We are looking for a Site Engineer V.I.E. F/M who will be excited to work on The Waitohi Ferry Redevelopment Project, large scale structures development including piling, concrete structures and new overbridge.

What can you expect as a Site Engineer @HEB Construction?
As part of HEB's team, you will support the safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery of a major infrastructure project. Responsibilities include assisting with safety, quality, environmental, programming, and scheduling activities, as well as supporting procurement and subcontractor coordination.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Health & Safety
- Apply HEB's H&S policies and safe work practices on site.
- Participate in briefings, toolbox talks, training, and hazard identification.
- Support safe work methodologies and task analyses.
- Ensure temporary works and safety measures are properly installed and maintained.
- Contribute to incident reporting, investigations, and proactive safety culture.
Financial & Programme Management
- Assist procurement, supplier/subcontractor coordination, POs, and agreements.
- Support cost tracking against project budgets.
- Record and reconcile delivery dockets and invoices.
- Assist with variation claims, EOT claims, and contract programmes.
- Support tender preparation and commercial activities.
Quality Assurance & Environmental
- Support safe and efficient construction planning and execution.
- Develop/manage inspection and test plans to project requirements.
- Carry out inspections, testing, and client documentation.
- Provide setout information using drawings and site datums.
- Ensure environmental controls are implemented and maintained.
- Promote quality, environmental awareness, and continuous improvement.
Personal Development & Other Duties
- Participate in training to build technical and project management skills.
- Develop practical site experience and engineering knowledge.
- Support additional project and site activities as required.

You will be a great fit if:
- You hold a master's degree in civil engineering and have initial experience in structural or civil works such as concrete, piling, bridges, or marine infrastructure, giving you a site knowledge that will help you integrate into construction operations and support project delivery from day one.
- You're looking for a role that mixes fieldwork with project coordination, and you’re eager to get hands-on experience in construction.
- You make Health & Safety a priority. You follow the rules and actively contribute to maintaining a safe work environment for everyone.
- You have strong planning and organisational skills, allowing you to coordinate labour, plant, and materials efficiently on site. This will help you support daily operations and contribute to the smooth delivery of works.
- You are comfortable managing priorities in a fast-paced construction environment. Your attention to detail will allow you to maintain accurate records and handle responsibilities effectively.
- You bring a reliable and proactive attitude to your work. You adapt easily to changing site conditions and are always willing to support the team when needed.
- You speak fluent English and feel confident communicating in any context, whether on site, in meetings, or day-to-day interactions. You're excited about the opportunity to live and work in New Zealand, making the most of everything it has to offer.
- You have your driver's license, and you're ready to move between sites if needed.
