Job Description

Position Purpose: 

This position provides the following major responsibilities: Performs collection system repairs and maintenance 

Provides maintenance and calibration of collection system instrumentation 

Works in the field during wet weather events 

Oversees and preforms pipe inspection and cleaning 

Oversees and preforms collection system repairs 

Performs Utilities Locates in collection system 

Under general supervision, installs, maintains, calibrates, troubleshoots, repairs, modifies, and overhauls equipment; controls, communication systems and computer and microprocessor systems associated with the Sewerage Conveyance/Collection System. 

Also performs and Utilities Locates in collection system. 

Work involves exposure to confined entry areas, hazardous gases, heights, weather, noise, dirt, dust, organic waste, and explosive environments. Position also requires driving to various Field locations. Generally works weekdays first shift hours. Must be available during wet weather events to support collection system problems.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities: 

Interfaces with utilities as necessary, such as the phone company. 

Utilizes ARC GIS to locate utilities. 

Utilizes Infonet to carryout assigned work orders. 

Oversees collection system work by contractors. Performs other duties as assigned. 

 

May be required to provide relief for other collection system employees and must participate in the on- call rotation for Utilities locating.

Work Environment:

·  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to outside weather conditions.
·  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

·  Position also requires driving to various Field locations.

·  Must be available during wet weather events to support collection system problems.

Qualifications

Education/Experience/Background: 

·  High School Diploma/GED is required.

Required Certification/Licenses/Training: 

·  Valid Michigan Driver’s license is required.
