Job Description
The operations manager monitors work at our hazardous waste transfer station and on our clients' premises and guarantees the respect and application of the company's rules and standards while managing the working teams.
Main Responsibilities:
· Guarantee the respect and application of the regulations established by the Company;
· Manage the different working teams;
· Divide the work between employees and keep the workers well informed of the tasks to be performed;
· Oversee the effective completion and profitability of the works in accordance with the established standards, equipment required, schedules, working teams and client's demands;
· Protect the workers' health and safety by verifying that personal protective equipment is available and appropriately worn by the workers, guaranteeing the hygiene of the equipment and workers, analyzing risks and ensuring the safety of work sites;
· Assess certain types of work in conjunction with the sales department;
· Coordinate work organization and allocation according to the ongoing contracts in conjunction with the representatives;
· Be available at any time to respond to emergency situations;
· Prepare different reports for the attention of the division manager;
· Be available for on-call duty from time to time;
· Implement the "Health and Safety" breaks, participate in Joint Health and Safety Committee;
· Oversee the cleanliness of the work sites;
· Make sure the documents relating to the works are correctly completed by the operators. (JSA, mechanical report, daily report, wash certificate, logbook, etc.);
· Be the person in charge on the work sites;
· Establish continuity between the different shifts when required;
· Prepare and develop different procedures and work instructions;
· Investigate work-related accidents;
· Maintain personnel discipline and complete a disciplinary report for any incident relating to the behavior of a worker, in accordance with the provisions of the collective agreement;
· Take control of the distribution of tasks to manage holidays and/or absences;
· Work in close collaboration with the other departments including laboratory, logistics, customer service, technical service;
· All other related tasks.
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
· High school diploma;
· 3 to 5 years' experience in a similar position;
· Relevant experience in managing personnel in a unionized work environment;
· Background in industrial or environmental environment will be an asset.
· Strong health and safety background;
· Ability to work as part of a team;
· Autonomy;
· Customer oriented;
· Good time management;
· Good communication skills;
· Demonstrate integrity, reliability and leadership;
· Be proactive, organized, rigorous and resourceful;
· Focus on results and human skills;
· Strong computer skills, including knowledge of Google Suite (asset).
Work Environment:
Permanent position, offered on a full-time basis, with schedules from Monday to Friday, day time. Incumbent must be flexible in terms of availabilities according to operational needs.
The job holder spends around 75% of their time supervising the personnel and guaranteeing customer satisfaction, while the rest of their time (25%) is spent updating files/reports/documents and preparing reports for their manager.
