It involves sourcing suppliers, negotiating contracts, and maintaining supplier relationships to secure quality materials and services. Job Description
Main Accountablities:
The Local Content Specialist is responsible for implementing and monitoring local content strategies and initiatives to maximize the use of local resources, materials, and workforce and identify new local suppliers to find ways to improve local content scores. This role involves collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure compliance with local content regulations and achieving company targets. The Local Content Specialist will play a crucial role in promoting sustainable development.
Job Description Details:
Local Content Strategy Implementation:
· Assisted in the development and execution of local content strategies that were in line with company objectives and regulatory requirements.
· Conducted and managed technical evaluations pertaining to local content within procurement bids to ensure that the bidding entities were technically fit for the published RFPs.
· Work to identify new suppliers who can increase the local content percentage, with the alignment of the Procurement team
· Monitor the progress of local content plans and ensure alignment with national and regional goals.
Stakeholder Engagement and Collaboration:
· Work closely with internal teams, suppliers, contractors, and government agencies to promote local content initiatives.
· Develop and maintain strong relationships with local suppliers and service providers to enhance their capabilities and competitiveness.
Regulatory Compliance:
· Ensure compliance with all local content laws and regulations set forth by the Saudi government.
· Prepare and submit regular reports to regulatory bodies, demonstrating the company’s commitment to local content development.
Supplier Development and Support:
· Identify and evaluate potential local suppliers and service providers.
· Provide support and guidance to local suppliers to meet the company’s quality and performance standards.
· Organize training and development programs for local suppliers to enhance their skills and capabilities.
· Build a plan for the Major local suppliers to improve their Local content percentage provided to Veolia with alignment of the Procurement team
Performance Monitoring and Reporting:
· Track and analyze local content performance metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs).
· Prepare detailed reports and presentations on local content achievements and areas for improvement.
· Recommend corrective actions to address any deviations from local content targets.
Economic and Community Development:
· Support initiatives aimed at the development of local industries and communities.
· Participate in local content forums, workshops, and conferences to share best practices and learn from industry peers.
Continuous Improvement:
· Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in local content processes and practices.
· Stay informed about industry trends and best practices in local content development.
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field. A Master’s degree or relevant certification is a plus.
· Minimum of 3 years of experience in local content, procurement, supply chain management, or related areas within the KSA.
· Strong understanding of local content regulations and requirements in Saudi Arabia.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
· Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ERP systems.
