Job Description

Position Purpose: 

Performs a variety of semi-skilled, skilled, technical, and administrative work in the planning, scheduling, maintenance of vehicles and equipment within Fleet Services.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities: 

journey-level systems maintenance operations.

• Involved in inspection, diagnosis, troubleshooting, scheduled/preventative maintenance, repair, and servicing of plant, shop, and field equipment/components.

• Ensure all machinery associated with the treatment, production, and transmission of waste water is operating at 100% efficiency.

• Maintain and install as needed pipes, tubes, rods, seals, shafts, stuffing boxes, gears, motors, bearings, couplings, chemical storage and feed systems, valves, flow stations.

• Work in deep wells- work-on pumps – vertical turbine, submersible, split case horizontal, electrical, diesel, right angle.

• Utilized tools/devices to test and monitor systems for vibration, bearing temperature, and output capacity. • Fabricate, weld, and fasten metals, plastics, composites using a wide range of milling, drilling and boring machinery..

• Ensure plan, specification, code, standards, guidelines, and methodology compliance   Examine, diagnose, maintain, and rebuild pumps to ensure proper operation of air and oil hydraulic systems.

• Perform construction, installation, maintenance, and repair of distribution system consisting of  pipes and all related towers, tanks, reservoirs.

• Inspect/maintain compressors, chemical feed pumps for hydrofluoric acid, polymers, ,  and sodium hypo-chloride.

• Utilize lockout/tagout procedures to block electrical sources up to 4160 volts.

• Operate dump trucks, boom trucks, forklifts, compressors, cranes, jack hammers, portable and stationary generators, steam cleaners, pneumatic, hydraulic and electric tools.

• Respond and correct emergency repairs to avoid costly shutdowns. • Perform QC, inspecting, chemicals testing, reporting, and ensured code compliance.

• Plan and layout jobs; and coordinate activities with other departments as needed

Work Environment:

·  Spends 100% of time in shop or field environment. 
·  Typically spends 25 – 35% of time exposed to outdoor and sometimes inclement weather. 
·  Company service vehicles are used as required. 
·  Travels 1 – 2 times per year for company provided training. 
·  Possible Work Hazards : May be exposed to possible operations hazards including fumes, dust, toxic and caustic chemicals, noise, moving mechanical parts and vehicles, heavy machinery, high pressure and hot and cold temperatures, slippery surfaces, water and electrical hazards.

Qualifications

Education/Experience/Background: 

·  High school or GED with the ability to read, write and comprehend English (operational, process, safety and quality instructions) and be able to carry out verbal and written instructions.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: 

·  Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
·  Must demonstrate ability to accurately record data from meters, gauges, scales, panels, computer consoles and other equipment.
·  Must have ability to safely operate motorized vehicles and construction-type equipment, drill press, bench press, grinder, band saw, electric charging systems testers, digital and computerized diagnostic instruments, hydraulic jacks and lifts, air tools, wrenches, drivers, wheel and tire replacement systems, air compressor, lubricants, greases, coolants and related fluid, cleaning equipment, portable radios, telephones, computers, copiers, printers and other equipment and devices related to Fleet Services activities.
·  Good verbal and written communication skills are necessary. 
·  Must have ability to operate Computer Maintenance Management System (software).
·  Must demonstrate ability to work in a team environment and willingness to assume additional or new responsibilities readily.
·  Must demonstrate proficiency in the care and use of all site specific, facility required PPE (Personal Protection Equipment), including respirators, gas detectors, confined space equipment, etc.)
·  Must provide own hand tools used in the normal performance of the job and includes, but not limited to; wrenches, socket sets, drivers, hammers, chisels, storage cabinets and toolboxes. Replacement of hand tools due to damage or breakage in the normal performance of the job will be reimbursed after approval by the Plant Manager.

Required Certification/Licenses/Training: 

·  Specialized training in vehicle and equipment maintenance with knowledge and experience in the areas of automotive and truck mechanics, gas and diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, valves, generators and welding and body repair.
·  Employee Orientation, Departmental Operating Procedures, OSHA and Quality Training.  Veolia equipment training.
·  Contributes and participates in required and recommended safety programs and training sessions.
·  HAZWOPER (Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response) Level I and II First Responder Certification.    

Physical Requirements:

·  Amount of time spent – Standing 75%, Walking 25%.
·  Requires close visual and hearing observation to detect non-conformance and equipment malfunction.
·  Constantly uses hands to finger, handle or feel and frequently reaches with hands and arms. 
·  Works in various positions; works on ladders, and works with hands extended above and below head and body up to 40 minutes using hand and power tools weighing up to 15 pounds. 
·  Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds (occasionally 60 pounds) distances of 10 feet. 
·  Occasional stooping, bending or kneeling and entering confined spaces.

Additional Information

Pay Range:  $45.00 to $60.00 per hour.
