Role Summary/Purpose
A Global Trade Compliance Leader plays a critical role in ensuring a company's adherence to international trade regulations and compliance with customs laws. The Global Trade Compliance Leader is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining the customs compliance strategies and procedures of Veolia Water Technologies & Solutions (VWTS). This role involves managing customs compliance across multiple countries and coordinating with various stakeholders to optimize international trade operations while minimizing risks.
Essential Responsibilities
Trade Compliance Management: Implement and manage Customs compliance policies and procedures across all EMEA trade activities.
Regulatory Expertise: Stay current with changing EU trade regulations, tariff codes, trade agreements, VAT and FTA developments, and ensure the company's operations remain in compliance.
Risk Mitigation: Identify and assess potential Customs compliance risks and develop strategies to mitigate them. Establish and maintain a risk assessment framework.
Training and Education: Provide training and guidance to employees involved in international trade to enhance their understanding of trade compliance requirements.
Change Management: Effectively manage changes in trade compliance regulations and procedures, ensuring that the organization adapts accordingly.
Leveraging cost-saving opportunities: Support Free Trade Agreements process (FTAs) and preferential trade programs to reduce duties and taxes, enhancing cost-saving opportunities.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., Supply Chain, International Trade, Business Management) or demonstrated work experience.
Language skills: English, in addition to native language.
Team player who enjoys working with a diverse global team.
Demonstrated Compliance mindset and problem-solving abilities.
Strong knowledge of EU Customs regulations, trade agreements, and expertise in leveraging FTAs, Country of Origin, and other trade-related matters.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work across diverse teams.
Knowledge of SAP (or similar ERP system), Microsoft Office Apps, and Google Suite preferred.
Holding certifications of specific courses on Customs Brokerage and International Trade.
Knowledge of international logistics and shipping requirements.
