Position Purpose:
Responsible for reviewing and approving hazardous and non-hazardous material for disposal in accordance with site capabilities, approved permits, and appropriate regulatory requirements. Determines acceptability or rejection of chemical components of materials utilizing analytical data, MSDS’s, and facility information. Ensures that the approval process is in proper compliance with company and regulatory policies and procedures.
Primary Duties/Responsibilities:
· Tracks individual profiles to ensure that approvals are completed in a reasonable amount of time to meet scheduled incineration.
· Assigns pricing codes to waste streams.
· Assigns parameters in laboratory testing of individual samples to verify material.
· Provide constructive input on existing and/or proposed policies, regulations, and other pertinent changes to expedite the approval process at the facility.
· Completes the approvals on a variety of materials.
· Assists in the technical training for facility.
· Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education/Experience/Background:
· Bachelor of Science in Chemistry or related discipline.
· 5 to 6 years in the hazardous waste industry or related work experience.
· 1 to 2 years of supervisory experience preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
· Computer proficiency with Microsoft Suite.
· Strong team player.
· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
· Time management: the ability to organize and manage multiple deadlines.
· Strong customer orientation.
Required Certification/Licenses/Training:
· OSHA HAZWOPER Certification.
