Test Technician - Birmingham

Overview of the role

Here at Vax, We are recruiting for a Test Technician to join our New Product Development team based in Birmingham city centre.

Reporting to the Laboratory / Workshop manager, the Test Technician will provide support and assistance to the test department within the new product development team by conducting performance tests on new and existing products in the Vax range.

The Nitty Gritty!

• Conduct performance testing on prototype and pre-production Vax products to support our Product Development teams
• Understand all relevant test standards and ensure Vax products are tested correctly through correct preparation (IEC / BS EN/ ASTM).
• Maintaining safe and tidy work areas
• Proposing and Implementing Laboratory best practices in terms of processes and equipment
• Creating and maintaining documents to assist with testing
• Effectively recording test data and results into spreadsheets
• Reporting test results and findings both verbally and in written report format to relevant NPD team members

What we need from you

• Relevant science/engineering degree or a minimum of 2 years' experience in a scientific testing environment
• Methodical and conscientious worker, able to rapidly react to changing requirements from the NPD team
• Ability to learn quickly, and follow and understand precise instructions and procedures
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to report technical information in clear and concise ways, both verbally and in writing
• Flexible approach to working hours may be needed on occasion to meet tight deadlines
• Computer literate, especially with a basic understanding of Word, excel and general administration
• Full driving license
