Graduate Design Engineer - Birmingham

Overview of the role

Participate in development of new product platforms from Marketing Requirements handover through to completion of engineering builds. Develop designs with clear achievable critical to quality characteristics, with visual brand language and colour, material and finish that drive brand equity, with high levels of usability and with aggressive cost to maximise margin. Industrialise with OEM partners and Suzhou China team. Support New Product Introduction through prototype production to manufacturing production and on post launch issues. Ensure key development documents are implemented via data management system. Work with cross functional team throughout, including Product Management, Category Marketing and New Product Introduction.

The Nitty Gritty!

This is a fast paced role and your duties will involve:

• Robust Creo Cad modelling
• Prototyping and development testing
• Engineering project management - defining own work packages, input to entire development cycle, day to day communication and PPTs, delivery to milestones, completing EBs, supporting PPs and MPs
• Frequent travel to China
• Liaise with cross functional teams on technical issues in UK, US, China
• Design for Manufacture, Assembly, Compliance, Storage and transportation, Usability, Servicing
• Lead design reviews and complete actions

What we need from you...

• Degree in a relevant Product or Industrial design discipline

• D CAD (preferably Creo)

• Solving complex technical problems

• Systems utilised in complex consumer appliances

• Some experience in product costing

• Some experience in design for manufacture

• Visual brand language and communication of brand values through design
