Job description

The volunteer will have the opportunity to work on activities, including the re-development, content creation and maintenance of the new main and lateral UWC websites that are scheduled to launch in early 2017. The volunteer will also assist on the new social media strategy involving a variety of channels and help develop various electronic and print materials for promotion and marketing purposes of UWC. Finally, the volunteer will help in collecting and drafting a variety of written content, including stories around UWC community members, newsletters, and internal and external documents. Other tasks may be assigned from time to time from other teams depending on interests and skills.

Our ideal candidate would show all or most of the following attributes:
Enthusiasm for communications
Very good verbal and written communication skills in English (ideally English native speaker)
Interest and ideally experience in the creation of written and visual content for websites and social media (graphic design skills are a plus)
Interest in working on projects in collaboration with others
Ability to work both independently and within a team environment
Good initiative and problem solving skills
Good inter-personal skills and a collaborative attitude
Ability to work under pressure, to adhere to deadlines and attention to details
Values own knowledge but always willing to learn and to remain open to alternative views and perspectives
Enthusiasm for the mission of UWC and an interest in issues of international / global relevance.

Duration: 2-3 months or longer, 2-3 days/week with flexible hours
Location: UWC International Office in Central London, UK
Starting Date: Ideally 5 December 2016, but later starting dates available as well

Practical Arrangements:
We are looking for a volunteer who will work with the Communications team starting any time as from 5 December 2016. UWC International offers its volunteers lunch vouchers and compensation for travel on public transport within the London Oyster zone. UWC International is not able to provide visas for nationals from outside the EEA, and all applicants must be able to show that they have the right to do voluntary work in the UK for the duration of the commitment.

Please send your application including your CV, a cover letter expressing your interest, the skills you would bring and your availability (max. 2 pages A4), as well as the names of at least two referees. For a start on 9th December 2016, applications should be received no later than 2nd December 2016. However, UWC International will recruit volunteers on a rolling basis. Following a selection based on the written application, candidates will be interviewed, providing them with the opportunity to meet the members of the Communication Team at UWC International
