Job description
*Location:
An initial 12 months in Michigan (USA). Reviewed after 12 months to extend or return to the UK
Place of work in the USA to be split between the customer’s location, Ford Dearborn (Detroit), and the company’s design centre (Auburn Hills)
Outline of Job Role
3D design and product engineering of 'Vehicle Plumbing Systems’ (Fluid Transfer).
Reporting to:
Programme Manager/Engineer Manager
Remuneration details:

Salary £40,000 to £4500

Overseas Weighting - additional 20%

Responsibilities:
- 3D Design of company products to Customer and company design guidelines
- Co-ordinating and managing the engineering content for new programme launches
- Co-ordinating and managing engineering change activity
- Manage Engineering content of GPDS / APQP process including all customer reporting
- Full responsibility for product design, design release, DFMEA, DVP&R and testing
- Responsibility for company compliance to all internal and customer specifications including driving new validations as required
- Manage the company feasibility process for all engineering changes and new launches
- Drawing release and sign off responsibility including relevant specifications
- Maintain and progress design issue tracking matrices for every project
- Attend meetings at company / customer sites as requested.
- Participate in driving the continuous improvement of engineering and company processes.
- Communicate the purpose and results of all significant customer meetings / visits etc.
- To carry out procedures and working instructions as required in the Company Quality Manual. To support new identification, idea / business development opportunities.
Requirements for the role:
Essential
- Degree within an Engineering discipline
- CATIA V5 training and experience
- Automotive Engineering knowledge and experience
- Customer communication and interface experience
- Appreciation of design for manufacture
- Willingness to travel (worldwide)
Desirable:
- Knowledge of GPDS / APQP process 1-3 Years’ experience in similar role
- Working knowledge / experience of Ford systems CAE appreciation
- Design/Product knowledge of fluid carrying hose and tube assemblies: Turbo charging oil lubrication and cooling line, Engine coolant lines, Fuel lines plastic and metal Power steering lines and Brake lines.
