New Wu-Tang Clan Documentary Role
Internship Wymeswold (Leicestershire)
Job description
My name is Nick Donnelly, and I am a feature filmmaker - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nick_Donnelly
The trailer to my new film 'School of Shaolin' is to be released soon and it is a collaboration with rap icons Wu-Tang Clan - I was the only filmmaker allowed backstage to capture them on their historic 20th year anniversary tour in 2013, the only time in 15 years the living members of the group have been together on stage in Europe.
To launch the social media I want to produce a series of important and iconic images throughout the UK, teaming with a collective of photographers as they look at showing the world what it is to be a Hip-Hop fan in England - these images will be shared and credited on the School of Shaolin official social media that will be launching very soon.
I grew up a young boy in the North-West of England obsessed with Hip-Hop music, I had a lonely childhood, I have been homeless for around one quarter of my life, but listening to Hip-Hop inspired me to eventually start a company whilst in between sleeping on night buses in South London - within the first year, with just two of us at the company our videos found audiences of ten million without one penny spent on production or marketing, and then in five years I had produced videos and films with musicians who have sold over 100 million records and I've been working full time in the industry now for almost a decade.
I know exactly what it takes to be a successful visual artist in todays modern industry, and Urban Kingdom my company was set up to provide that value for people in the long term and although this is an internship to become involved in this very important release we have coming out - I do want to out of this to find people who can grow their own projects at Urban Kingdom and go on to be part of an individual and collective legacy.
I'm looking forward to personally looking at all applications - it's fine to send me a video showreel, but I'm primarily looking for photographers, although I've never been one to look away from talent so just send away and I will do my best to look at everyone, we get so many applicants I can't reply to everyone unfortunately but I will read every one of them so please don't feel time wasted by applying, if we can't work together at this stage, that means nothing I've been rejected over 500 times in my career, just find the people who give you their lives and inspire them and look to change the world and I hope one day we can work together.
Peace to all! I know it's a scary career choice to be in film, photography or music, but it's worth it, without the visual arts in todays globally connected world we would really struggle to keep our emotions in check.
