Temporary contract - Minimum of 13 weeks and may be extended, subject to requirement

We are seeking enthusiastic students who are eager to learn about testing the newest wireless technology at UL’s Basingstoke campus.
As an Intern you will work as a member of our Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) team in a dynamic, fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
Our laboratory professionals work closely with UL's Engineering staff to perform required laboratory tests necessary on wireless devices to deliver the fastest, highest quality and most customer-friendly service possible. UL’s laboratories uphold the most stringent quality control measures and are renowned for their innovative equipment design.
The Intern positions pay starts at £10 per hour and you will be responsible for assisting the laboratory professionals in conducting investigations on wireless devices.
As a summer Intern at UL's Basingstoke, you will be trained and expected to...
Follow defined test plans and datasheets.
Evaluate test performance and sample operation to properly evaluate test results.
Record and explain test results and complete test report for Engineering staff.
Examine customer samples and learn to operate basic tests for each case.
Communicate with customers during setup and operation to ensure proper evaluation.
Operate with supervision, within defined limits of responsibility.
Develop working knowledge of the job, methods, instrumentation and systems.
Desired profile
Skills required:
An ideal candidate would be someone who is keen to work for an international company such as UL, to explore the experience of corporate business.
Should be willing to learn new technical concepts and implement them.
Degree, BTEC, HND or A levels in RF, Electronics Engineering, Telecomms, Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science or relevant work experience.
Desirable: basic understanding of RF Communication method, Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) test method
Candidates must be eligible to live and work in the UK.
IT skills: basic knowledge of Word, Excel would be ideal.
Flexible to work in one of the following shift (subject to change), working 5 days a week:
Day Shift – 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
Evening Shift – 4:00 PM to 00:30 AM
Night Shift – 0:00 AM to 08:30 AM
Including working on some selective weekends is also required.
