Poste et missions:
Pharmaceutical industry is dominated by batch processing operation. Often investigation into the scale-up of the batch process is impaired by the limited knowledge of the equipment characteristics impacting on the process performance. It is critical for the smooth run of the experimental investigations understanding and control of heat and mass transfer phenomena impacted by the equipment selected for the operation. The process characterisation studies aim to generate information on the performance of the process at 2L to 5L scale and or scale-down laboratory equipments to understand impact on the process performence of the scale dependent heat and mass transfer phenomena.

The right candidate will be also exposed to project support activities and process engineering workflow, learning about application of scale down/up principles for batch process design of unit operations for production of drug substance, supporting the development of robust and scale independent processes to be transferred from bench to pilot plant to manufactory scale.

Profil:
Education & Experience:
- Master degree in Chemical Engineering ;
- Experience in batch processing development and/or manufacturing gained in Fine Chemical, Pharmaceutical or Biotechnology industry environment;
Core Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of mass and heat transfer principles governing physical chemical phenomena behind batch/continuous processing;
- Knowledge of reaction engineering fundamental;
- Keen practitioner of Process Modelling with some practical working experience of key software for process design and scale-up (e.g. Dynochem, Aspen and Visimix) or other software for mathematical model implementation and development e.g. MatLab, gProms;
Preferential Technical Skills
- Practical knowledge of the following:
o Laboratory or plant scale equipment commissioning for batch processing;
o Analytical techniques for process monitoring e.g. FBRM, NIR, PVM, HPLC, GC, KF;
- Experience in Statistical Modeling (DoE) and/or Multivariate Analysis (Chemometrics);
- Knowledge of techniques for Process and or Equipment Risk Assessment e.g. Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA), Root Cause Analysis (RCA), HAZOP
Core Soft Skills:
- Ability to work in a multifunctional team;
- High level of independency for laboratory and experimental work;
- Ability to critically review data collected and process information to suggest and recommend alternative experiments and work direction;
- Fluent communication in English;

Make every future a success.
