The UBS investment Bank in New York City is seeking qualified candidates for a quantitative developer position to work within our algorithmic trading group in our Equity business. A global team, the UBS Algorithmic Trading team is comprised of financial engineers, traders and technologists.

The new team member will be focused on developing pre-trade and post-trade analytics (transaction cost analysis) tools.

Algorithmic Trading is one of the largest areas in equity trading. Most of the projects undertaken by the group require extensive analysis of trade and market data, in addition to understanding of the market micro-structure space and being able to proactively create solutions in response to continuous dynamic changes.

This role involves developing tools to create analytics for our quantitative analyst team. The primary responsibility will be to create analytics tool sets that enable the team to work with traders and clients to understand their trading needs and requirements.

Seeking an experienced applications developer to design and build front office analytics in Java and Q. Capability to interact with traders and work in partnership with a quantitative analysts to deliver quality, cutting edge systems is crucial to success in this role.

Requirements:
• 3+ years' experience working on core Java (J2SE)/C++
• Proficient in development on Linux platforms
• Sound understanding of fundamental computer science concepts
• Experience with data structures, multithreading, and socket programming
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or related technical fields

Preferred Qualifications:
• Knowledge and proficiency in the following technologies: database design and the ability to build data access queries and tools, Q/KDB and Python.
• Good mathematical/statistical ability
• Experience in agile development practices
• Quick-thinking, intelligent, pragmatic, with a love of problem-solving.
• Ability to quickly translate requirements into sound technical designs.
• The ability to work effectively on a trading floor, under deadline pressures
• Self-motivated, enjoy working as part of a team
