Working with a small, tightly knit team, the Media Relations Officer will be primarily responsible for leading the media and public relations outreach efforts for the Equity Research department in the Investment Bank, as well as supporting media efforts for the firm's Wealth Management Americas and Global Asset Management divisions.
•H/she will create and lead the implementation of a strategic media relations plan that will ensure that UBS research and intellectual capital remain at the forefront of global top-tier print and broadcast media. Additionally, the Media Relations Officer will assist the Head of Media Relations for Wealth Management Americas and Global Asset Management in executing their media and communications strategy in the Americas.
•On a daily basis, the media relations officer will accomplish the following tasks:
•Produce and distribute to the media a daily investment research summary email that includes the most noteworthy research of the day
•Proactively pitch Investment Bank and Wealth Management analysts and strategists to top broadcast and print media on developing market and company specific news and developments
•Develop and raise the profile of new analysts that have little previous media experience.
•Coordinate roundtables and other media events that promote the analysts and the intellectual capital of the firm with individual reporters.
•Respond and answer media inquiries in a prompt manner
•Develop and execute media plans to highlight flagship UBS conferences to ensure maximum exposure in the media
•Counsel Wealth Management Americas' Financial Advisors on specific media strategies in their local markets and ensure that they are in compliance with UBS rules and procedures
•Work on elevating the profile of UBS Global Asset Management through proactive outreach and promoting of individual portfolio managers
•Assist various stakeholders in writing, optimizing and distributing press releases and other announcements both locally and nationally
Requirements:
•The media relations officer must have an in-depth understanding and knack for creating publicity and positive press coverage for financial service firms.
•H/she or she must be willing and able to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
•The media relations officer must be a highly motivated team player who is highly adaptable and enjoys working in very flat matrix structure.
Qualifications:
•3-6 years of previous work experience, preferably in the financial services industry.
•Demonstrated skill in building and maintaining relationships with top tier reporters
•Ability to work in a high pressure, up-tempo environment through prioritizing business critical tasks
•Strategic thinker who is able to brainstorm and come up with ingenious solutions to various problems
•Can quickly recognize and capitalize on breaking news and developments
•Attention to detail, and superb execution skills are a must
