Job description

Description

The Investment Bank provides corporate, institutional and wealth management clients with expert advice, innovative financial solutions, outstanding execution and comprehensive access to the world's capital markets. It offers financial advisory and capital markets, research, equities, foreign exchange, precious metals and tailored fixed income services in rates and credit through its two business units, Corporate Client Solutions and Investor Client Services. The Investment Bank is an active participant in capital markets flow activities, including sales, trading and market-making across a range of securities.

The FX and Rates e-trading desk seeks top-quality Java developers to join a growing and successful team, building low-latency technology for FX and Fixed Income. The developer will work directly within a team of quants and e-traders to enable its aims of growing a business that is increasingly electronic. The team reports into Trading, with constant interaction with fellow quants and e-traders.

The ideal candidate will be a talented software engineer, an expert Java developer with experience in electronic markets. The day-to-day responsibilities of the role will focus on development: analysing business problems, designing solutions, writing high-quality code, testing and investigating production outcomes.

Requirements:

• Very strong core Java.
• Experience in building large complex systems, involving highly fault-tolerant, globally distributed processes with high frequency message flows.
• Experience of building performant systems, involving concurrency, low-level messaging protocols and minimising garbage collection.
• Understanding of good software engineering practices.
• Experience of low-level messaging and networking with exposure to components such as Java NIO, Tibco and 29 West is useful.
• Some electronic markets experience: order books, markets, connectivity such as FIX.
• Kdb knowledge is a bonus.
