Job summary
Be responsible to design menus UX design (wireframes, layout & info presentations, navigation & usability functions, menus structure hierarchy and flow) for new or revamped systems, and to design their UI visuals skins and create their assets with UI artist
Key responsibilities
· Work hand in hand with the Creative Director to achieve in the game their creative vision, intentions and expectations for the user interfaces and menus presentation, and game systems overall player experience
· Lead and be responsible for the UX/UI designs and their implementation for all game menus and user interfaces, from their layout and presentation of info to their navigation and usability functions, and design the menus structure hierarchy and flow
· Define and propose the best user experience for user interfaces, according to the needs specified by game designers and to the vision set by the Creative Director, all while maintaining consistency and efficiency
· Be responsible for the UI assets creation pipeline, create UI visual skins mockups, based on the existing UI visual grammar and components, and coordinate their assets creation with the UI artist
· Lead the UX/UI team of designers and artists
· Be responsible to create and maintain up to date the UX and UI design documentation (wireframes, flowcharts, UI assets components database, UX and UI visual references and guidelines …)
· Direct the creation of artworks/illustrations for menus and promotional assets in-game (from backgrounds, to showcase tiles/cards, to monetization banners/posters…), based on the existing UI visual grammar, in collaboration with artists
· Create rapid prototypes and mockups of menus and interfaces layout, flow, usability functions, and animations & VFX (presentation & realization aspect of the UI)
· Participate in playtests to observe user behaviour and identity usability or understandability issues, and iterate on the UX design accordingly
· Make sure the UX/UI experience is excellent across all platforms/devices
· Follow-up on final implementation of all user interface features to ensure proper execution
· Collaborate with other dev team cells (content design, system design, art & animation, gameplay programming) to ensure optimal communication of design info and achieve the results expected by the game Directors
· Set and share best practices in your area of expertise for design, creation, documentation, workflows, methodologies and tooling, striving to optimize assets quality, footprint, technical performance, and overall pipelines
· Demonstrate pragmatism in your design priorities and decisions, to weight possible solutions and find the right ones to develop a live product and steer it through regular live updates (addition of content and adjustments)
· Constantly participate in finding solutions to fix buggy features and optimize systems, pushing for reworks when they are necessary to reach the expected quality.
Relevant experience, skills and knowledge
· Passionate about playing and making games
· In-depth knowledge of the game industry, notably of the top RPG games in the F2P & GaaS genre
· Detailed understanding of mobile players’ behaviours and latest business models trends
· Strong understanding of the full development cycle of a game and a strong understanding of all its stages, from the conception to live phase
· Strong graphic design background and artistic skills, with a superior eye for composition, colour theory, artistic sensitivity.
· Extensive knowledge with UI graphic design tools, wire framing and prototyping tools (Photoshop, Illustrator, Adobe XD, Figma, etc).
· Familiar with animation tools to create animated UI mockup (After Effect, Flash).
· Strong knowledge in UI/UX best practices, for games and applications design, notably on mobile platforms, to create the best information architecture and usability designs.
· You already shipped at least a game as a UX/UI designer in a lead role
· Significant experience (at least 5 years) working in a video game development team as a UX/UI designer, ideally working on F2P RPG games with complex game loops (specifically MMORPG development experience is a plus)
· Experience on leading, staffing, mobilizing and developing a team of UI/UX designers and artists.
· You are creative, flexible and open to feedback and iterations, and a good team player
· Ability to communicate complex game info in a simple way to players through smart user interface UX designs, and to use a business and user-centric approach to user interface designs
· Ability to clearly and effectively communicate and collaborate with other designers and artists to ensure delivery of the best possible user experience.
· Role Model: You set a high standard and expect the same from your team. Attention to detail, meticulous and organized working habits to ensure high quality in day-to-day work
· Fluent in English
· A solid knowledge of the universe of The Division IP (its world, stories, characters, key mechanics and game systems, etc), and a passion for believable game world grounded in reality, is a plus
· Experience with Unreal Engine and Unity UI workflows is a plus.
· Knowledge of mobile platform development is a plus.
