Total is a major energy player, which produces and markets fuels, natural gas and low-carbon electricity.
Exploration-Production (EP) is in charge of discovering and developing oil and gas fields to satisfy an increasing demand.
EP's strategy is to develop a sustainable and profitable frame for production of hydrocarbons that could resist longlasting low prices environment.
Total's climate strategy is based on International Energy Agency’s (IEA) 2°C scenario. CO2 storage makes with CO2 capture an efficient tool for climate mitigation.

The mission will consist of an economical evaluation of the costs for CO2 storage project development. Following questions will have to be replied:
- Why the costs reported in different publications are different?
- How storage cost breaks down? (CAPEX, OPEX, before injection, post-injection, etc)
- What are technical solutions and how costs are calculated?
- What is the major cost contributor and how its uncertainty impact the final overall cost?
- Beside cost, what are the roles of other topics (environmental? Social acceptance, etc) in CO2 storage project development.

Activities will include:
- A mapping of existing publications that give CO2 storage cost
- Understanding of CO2 storage process development and bibliography review on CO2 storage costs
- Summarize the key performance indicators related to CO2 storage cost
- Benchmark the CO2 storages costs = f (key performance indicators)
- Understand existing models (SINTEF, NETL and others)
- With the different volets or actions leaders within CO2 storage project, find out elemental costs for each brick of CO2 storage chain (seismic, drilling, OPEX for CO2 injection operations, etc.)
- Capitalize learnings for several cases: onshore vs offshore, US vs. Europe, depleted reservoirs vs. brine aquifers developments
- Define « virtual cases » to understand the repartition and relative contributions of different parameters in storage cost.
- Map the impact of geographical obligations on monitoring and associated budget provision.
- Position of CO2 storage cost in a whole CCUS project development.

Expected deliverables will include:
- Provide an Excel or Power BI file to summarize all essential information around CO2 storage cost and final estimated costs
- Carry out case studies
- Intermediate and final reports

You have a BAC + 5 degree in Engineering School and you are looking for a first or new experience in the field of well drilling.

We offer you a 12-month professionnalisation contract including a period of internal training (business, office automation, linguistics).

You speak fluent English. Fluency in the language is essential for this position.
