Job Description

The positions within a project structure will start during the finalization of the FID process for an offshore wind farm project, and will last until final commissioning, close out of the contracts and handover to O&M.

The position reports on a day to day basis to the package manager of the project, and liaises with other members of the project team as required, such as interfacing package managers, project engineers, commercial team, legal team, installation and construction leads etc.

The package control engineer will be responsible for the appropriate management and control ofprogram/schedule, risks, budget and document control for the electrical package. 

In particular his/her responsibilities include: 
- Implement and follow tools and processes for the management and control of project program, risk, budget and document control,
- Program/Schedule: Establish the program/schedule of the project, track and monitor progress. Check progress against baseline target and highlight any deviation to the management,
- Ensure interfaces are established and appropriately managed,
- Risk and opportunities: Coordinate and the project’s risk identification process, establish and keep up to date the project’s risk register, coordinate identification and follow up of risk mitigation plans, anticipate critical situations and highlight them to the management, 
- Cost control: Coordinate the establishment of the package’s budget, follow up of the budget and control of the expenditure,
- Regular reporting on program/schedule, risk, budget and costing to management.
- Manage and coordinate the electrical package control team. 
- Ensure that appropriate lessons learnt regarding offshore wind farm development and construction are captured and shared across the Total offshore wind business. Collaborate with the head of offshore wind operations to ensure that the team implements these lessons to enhance business value
HSE :The control engineer is also accountable for demonstrating an exemplary behavior with regard to HSE rules and requirements and for ensuring their implementation within his/her scope of responsibility. The control engineer shall ensure that all activities he is responsible for, or involved in, are performed with the highest level of consideration to HSE risk management, protection of human’s health, respect of various communities and care of environment. 

He/She will promote safety awareness at all level through exemplary and pro-active attitude within Project team and Contractor/subcontractors/vendors’ team.

Quality:The service holder shall ensure that all activities he is responsible for, or involved in, are performed with the highest level of consideration to Project Quality Policy and management system. He is directly responsible for highlighting any deviation to the Project Quality Policy in order to ensure that the Project is achieved in full compliance to TOTAL Quality standard.

Candidate profile

·        This role would suit a degree qualified engineer with a minimum of 10 years working experience in the energy sector. The candidate will have working experience in project management and / or project control tools and methods. Knowledge of the offshore wind industry is not essential but would be advantageous.

 

·        The successful candidate will be required to demonstrate that they have the following capabilities:

o   Excellent understanding of complex tasks, ability to work autonomously with great rigor and precision,

o   Excellent organization skills with the ability to manage own workload, meet timescales and coordinate a number of external and internal stakeholders,

o   Excellent negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to enable effective discussion and transfer of information between, contractors, team members and other stakeholders,

o   Excellent knowledge of English (written and spoken),

o   Ability to work as a member of a large, multidisciplinary and international team,

o   Ability to use MS Office, in particular MS Excel and MS Project and / or Primavera.

Context and environment

The Package Control Engineer will be supporting Total’s growth of offshore wind activities, within a wider task force of professionals coming from the Offshore Wind and the Exploration and Production Business Units.
The Package Control Engineer will be seconded into a project team based in the UK to support Total’s UK offshore wind developments.
It is expected the Package Control Engineer will join an international multidisciplinary team, and so flexibility and the ability to adapt to people from different backgrounds is key.
