TOTSA (TOTAL OIL TRADING SA) is a trading company in charge ofall physical trading and shipping of crude oil and refined products on behalf of the TOTAL group. It has been a major and active participant all over the supply chain as well as on the derivatives paper market in order to manage market risk.
You will be part of the Front Office Innovation team (FIT), a 4 members team with a front status, sitting on the trading floor. The FIT team is responsible for the derivatives pricing library and all its related tools. All trading desks, whether it is physical or paper business, use the library.
The tools provided by the team cover a large range of business-oriented problems (paper trading, exchange markets, pricing methodologies, proxies on illiquid products, physical optionalities, supply & demand, blending, shipping, …) and technical solutions (Excel & VBA, Python, C++, Web-based in React / Django).
The trading floor is a high pace, challenging environment, requiring agility, sharpness and rigour. Good communication, teamwork, multi-tasking are also essential skills.
Depending on your appetite, the internship will be one of the following topics:
·  Develop a tool/model enabling us to evaluate and hedge our CCGT global park. CCGT are flexible physical assets that enable us to arbitrage between the price of electrical power and the price of natural gas combined with CO 2 prices.
·  Develop a tool that enables our marketers to price and book deals into our system on a more automatic and faster way. Develop safety net mechanisms. To ensure that live prices used in the tool are always in line with market prices.
·  Develop and implement a new Volatility Model (C++) in our internal library. The goal is to establish a price / volatility dynamic. The internship also comprises several day-to-day tasks:
·  Elaborate and price structures meeting the clients’ needs and analyse along with the trading floor the model risks associated with these structures.
·  Provide technical and modelling support to the trading floor.
·  Take part in the team’s daily work (studies, bug fixes)

Candidate profile

·  MSc. in a quantitative discipline (Mathematics, Physics, Engineering or Quantitative Finance).
·  Good programming skills (object oriented) is mandatory as code is at heart of our job.
·  Python: a minimum.
·  VBA: a plus.
·  C++: a plus.
·  React: a plus.
·  Knowledge of financial mathematics, probability theory and stochastic calculus would be a plus.
·  Experience in the implementation of numerical methods (PDE solvers, Monte Carlo, etc.) would be a plus.
·  Good knowledge in time series analysis, machine learning, statistical models and data science would be a plus.
·  Strong communication skills, proactive, ability to quickly deliver and work under pressure.
·  Previous experience on a trading floor or in the commodities market would be a plus.
·  Only University sponsored applications will be considered (tripartite agreement)
