Job Description

The HR Generalist acts as a resource to all plant employees for all human resources related functions, particularly regarding Company recruiting and community affairs programs, HR records, and special events.  This position coordinates and maintains the hiring process to ensure high-level plant performance, appropriate diversity, and compliance with applicable laws and corporate programs.  This position assists in coordinating and maintaining the benefits program administration for Site employees.  The incumbent maintains personnel files and appropriate documentation on Corporate and Site programs and special projects.  All programs are designed to meet the requirements of the Site and are performed in a manner compatible with the objectives and goals of the Corporation Human Resources Department. This position reports to the Human Resource Supervisor.
·  Interfaces with employees (exempt & non-exempt) at the Site, applicants, Corporate Human Resources personnel, and the local community. Coordinate the community affairs function, including representation/support to East Iberville Industry Neighbors Companies, East Iberville Industry School Committee, and East Iberville Community Advisory Panel.
·  Coordinate the Employee Benefits program for the plant to ensure the needs of employees are met on a timely basis.
·  Assists employees in understanding benefits, enrollment, and modification of benefits.
·  Maintain employee records and transactions in SAP
·  Maintain appropriate human resources related documentation; act as a liaison with the Corporate Human Resources Department to ensure compliance with applicable laws and corporate guidelines.
·  Maintain Styrenics Phone List, and Distribution Lists.
·  Coordinate Gift Certificate Program.
·  Perform executive secretary duties as needed for site manager.
·  Maintain documentation for nested contract employees.
·  Prepare notices, articles, or other information as requested.
·  Assist as backup in organizations and associations in which Site Manager may be involved.  Is to be familiar with his part in the meetings and aware of upcoming events.
·  Assists as backup for meeting arrangements when necessary for groups when Site Manager is involved.
·  Coordinate Site Drug Testing on a quarterly basis.
·  Maintain/Update Web Site Administration.
·  Administer Site Wellness Program.
·  Interview, test, and recommend for hire personnel needed for exempt, non-exempt and contract positions. 
·  Administer termination and/or retiree activities for employees.
·  Maintain up-dated Affirmative Action Program as set forth in the written Affirmative Action Compliance Programs ensuring that corporate goals and objectives are met.
·  Monitor activity for EEO-1 Reports on an annual basis consistent with the guidelines to assure that hiring and promotion patterns are attained.
·  Serve as plant liaison to corporate in the areas of credit union information, TotalCap, personnel record keeping and records maintenance.
·  Coordinate Company Employee functions - Family Christmas Party, Award Dinners, Cookouts & Benefit Programs.  All activities are planned well in advance to meet budget guidelines.
·  Coordinate the kickoff of Company sponsored community support activities such as the annual campaigns for United Way, March of Dimes, etc.
·  Administer the Clerical Certification Program.  This assures that a variety of clerical jobs have continual coverage as well as meeting ISO requirements.        
·  Inform employees of Credit Union services.  Work with credit unions to communicate updates.
·  Assist with the administering of the Employee Communications Program keeping employees informed regarding benefits changes, scheduled activities and related matters.
·  Attend required meetings, seminars, and classes.  Serve as representative for River Parishes Industrial Human Relations Group.
·  Perform duties as assigned in the Incident Command Structure as listed in the Emergency Response Plan.
