The Reuters TV Latam desk in Washington DC is looking for a skilled and experienced producer to help produce news and generate content from more than 21 countries in Latin America. From volcanoes, earthquakes and hurricanes, to coups and political spats, Communist governments to booming economies - the region has a vibrant news file that covers the whole range of output, from hard news to Life!, sports and entertainment and with a growing emphasis on environment stories and enhanced live coverage.
The desk is looking for a multi-skilled producer with a strong track record both on the desk and in the field and a grasp of Latin American issues. Fluent Spanish is a must, and strong writing skills essential. The ability to work alone and also in a team is vital. Experience with non-linear editing is essential. Experience producing, shooting and editing initiative stories is vital as well as comprehensive knowledge with social media. The right candidate will be willing to work a shift pattern that includes weekends and late nights and a readiness to travel at short notice occasionally on breaking news stories in the Latin American region. Experience in hostile environments would be a distinct advantage.
Duties include:
· Coordinating the news file with bureau in Latin America and with London and other regional hubs
· Producing and editing Latin America content for the World News Service and the Latin Feed
· Providing strong scripts for stories from the Latin America region for the World News Service
· Coordinating delivery of news items and live coverage from the around the region and handling client requests
· Working with colleagues across the multimedia spectrum
· Operating new delivery technologies
· Readiness to travel on breaking news stories in Latin America on occasion
· In liaison with the bureau, planning and producing initiative stories
