Trainee Copy Editor
Experience: Fresher
Location:Bangalore
Key Responsibilities:
· Complete technical edits of legal Web site copy. A technical edit should include review and correction of errors involving:
o Spelling
o Punctuation
o Grammar
o Sentence structure (i.e., noun - verb agreement)
o Word usage (i.e., "their" "there" "you're" "your")
o Voice consistency (i.e. singular - plural "we - our" "I - my")
o Adhering to style guidelines and ensuring all content matches those guidelines
· Recommend improvements to Web site copy and editorial materials
Adhere to documented processes and best practices
Required Skills :
Ø Familiarity with standard PC based business systems including Microsoft Office suite
Ø Knowledgeable in Associated Press (AP) style. ( As part of the application process, candidates will be given a copy editing test that evaluates knowledge of AP style .) Familiarity with the Economist Stylebook or other style manuals preferred but not required
Ø Should be familiar with Web 2.0 technologies, and preferably have experience with content management systems in a Windows environment
Desired Skills:
Ø Excellent vocabulary, grammar and proofreading skills
Ø Strong attention to detail
Ø Ability to meet tight deadlines and strict production goals
Ø Must be task-oriented and deadline-driven with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Ø Ability to complete technical edits using the "Track Changes" function in Microsoft Word
CF Participates in an Editorial or Content Operations team and assists in the creation and/or acquisition, preparation and delivery of assigned content and information for creating products and product functionality in all publication media (print or electronic).
