Risk is a fast-growing Thomson Reuters Segment. It focuses on connecting our customers' business to the ever-changing regulatory and risk environment.
Position overview - eLearning Designer
The eLearning Designer will become part of the eLearning group within the fast growing and exciting Risk business. The Designer will work closely with numerous members of the eLearning team - including Project Managers and Instructional Designers to ultimately designing a world class training product for a wide range of external client.
The overarching responsibility is to ensure the end product conforms to a high standard and meets the client's needs in terms of quality of design and customised content. Idea sharing and innovation are encouraged across the business with regular interaction between team members to ensure we are constantly pushing the boundaries of eLearning development.
The eLearning Designer/Developer creates and manages the creation of highly engaging self-paced, on demand courseware for Thomson Reuters Markets clients worldwide.
The incumbent is capable of hands-on production and handling multiple simultaneous projects.
The Designer/Developer drives and/or participates in learning needs analysis, design, development, testing, implementation and evaluation of training materials, ensuring that they complement the overall training strategy.
The incumbent collaborates closely with Project Managers, Team Leads, subject matter experts, management, and other parts of the overall business.
Courseware created by staff in this role allows the firm to serve our clients in highly effective fashion with quality, modularized training that is available anytime, anywhere, and in a cost efficient manner.
Ability to work with cross-functional teams, strong communication skills and excellent design skills will make for a successful candidate.
The eLearning Designer will also contribute to the design and development of our extensive catalogue of courses ensuing that the graphics, text, interactions and multi-media components are of a high quality and engaging.
Responsibilities include
Produce world class, next generation eLearning modules and courseware based on clients' workflow and business requirements.
Collaborate with different areas of the business and partner groups.
Author and create designs and media for use as on demand modules.
Convert instructor led training scripts into on demand learning modules and deliverables.
Interact with subject matter experts to gather knowledge required to develop media.
Find creative solutions to designing eLearning offerings that are relevant, engaging and effective for our clients.
Continuously build personal knowledge, Thomson Reuter's products and the firm's clients.
Attend business approved professional courses and seminars; Read journals and media publications to proactively address changing market/industry needs/trends.
Continuously build personal knowledge of eLearning, training, technology, and software trends and developments.
Partner and share knowledge with peers and colleagues to enhance the team's overall capabilities.
Working as a eLearning Designer within the eLearning department, you will interpret client and instructional design instructions to create high quality eLearning that meets the desired specifications.
Handle/assist in the creation of designs or interactive media.
Ensure client expectations are met. Work with colleagues to identify and improve processes and communication to help the fulfillment of products.
Support pre-sales process by creating proof of concepts and course prototypes.
Work alongside team and clients to develop bespoke training solutions.
Contribute to the design of new templates to drive forward our eLearning, focusing on multi-device/responsive design.
Contribute to the continued innovation and develop of the eLearning product
Desired profile
Essential experience
· Previous eLearning media design experience.
· Significant, demonstrable skill with industry standard eLearning software: Adobe Web suite products, Articulate, Captivate, Flash, Final Cut Pro, Audacity, Adobe Creative Suite, SnagIt, WebEx, etc. A passion to learn and master new tools.
· Experience with training course design (i.e. is able to determine appropriate training methodology based on identified needs, effectively delivers classroom and nontraditional training programs as appropriate, etc.).
· Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize and deliver quality results in a time sensitive environment.
· Must be able to effectively manage multiple projects working independently and collaboratively with a team.
· Understanding of eLearning design standards such as user interaction, multimedia and graphic components, intuitive navigation.
· Solid understanding of interactive and user-centred design processes including multimedia and graphic design, human factors and usability methodologies.
· The ability to interpret client specifications and deliver according to brand.
· Excellent collaborative problem-solving capabilities.
· Good knowledge of modern web design languages and technologies.
· Understanding of HTML5/CSS3 (our products run on multiple platforms)
Desirable experience
· Online video development experience is a major advantage.
· Knowledge of eLearning infrastructure: LMS, LCMS, video distribution, etc. is a major advantage.
· Strong design sense. A critical, artistic eye for color, sound, motion, etc.
· Any other training related experience such as corporate classroom training.
