Thomson Reuters is the provider of intelligent information to accelerate research, scientific discovery and innovation. The Scientific & Scholarly Research (SSR) business of the IP & Science division provides research and analytics solutions, including the Current Research Information System CONVERIS to fully support the research lifecycle from an initial research idea over project applications and projects to their results and exploitation. Customers include 60+ universities, research institutions and funding organizations across the globe.
The demand for Research Information Systems is rapidly increasing across the world, primarily driven by the need for better management information for internal decision-making as well as reporting back to funders, e.g. as part of national research performance exercises. This accelerating development increases the demand for CONVERIS, which is the leading Research Information System providing support for the complete Research Lifecycle. In order to meet this increasing demand, Thomson Reuters is looking for a dedicated Training Specialist/Consultant to be based in Singapore.
ROLE PURPOSE
To provide training on CONVERIS for customers and Thomson Reuters sales staff in the APAC region, and elsewhere as required, in a professional and timely manner, to support/drive retention and new sales, product preference and increased usage. This involves attending to training requests from clients, project managers and the sales organizations based in the region.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The responsibilities and accountabilities for this position are to:
·Provide deep subject matter expertise on CONVERIS for customers and sales personnel
·Interact with the product development team to learn about CONVERIS and to continuously stay up-to-date on the latest state of the functionality as well as the CONVERIS Roadmap to develop into a product expert
·Organise and deliver half-day training for key users and system administrators (up to 20 participants)
·Organise and deliver two-day training on the Configuration module (for up to five participants)
·Instructs participants in both classroom-based and virtual sessions
·Provides internal training when necessary to support sales, product support, etc., to drive understanding of products/services
·Ensures timely follow up to determine applicability of course material and address issues/concerns raised by customers
·Support sales/pre-sales in sales presentations by demonstrating CONVERIS onsite and online, and answer questions on technical and in-depth domain specific topics
·Participate actively at conferences with papers, posters and talks on Research Information Management topics to become positioned as a domain specialist
·Interact with and support sales managers to help with qualifying new opportunities.
Desired profile
TECHNICAL / PROFESSIONAL SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
In order to ensure smooth and successful CONVERIS implementation projects, we are looking for individuals with most of the following knowledge, skills and abilities:
·Proficient and experienced in delivering presentations or classroom-style training
·Ability to field questions and control training sessions
·Experience and understanding of the domain of ‘research information management' – funding, research and academic – including research processes and standards like CERIF, CASRAI, ORCID, etc
·At least two years of experience in customer-facing environment preferred
·A quick learner, developing into a product expert knowing CONVERIS ‘inside out' in order to be in a position to answer any questions from clients throughout the implementation process. This includes the ability to develop the relationship into establishing Thomson Reuters as a trusted partner for the client on any topic relating to the management of research information.
·Excellent communication skills, primarily orally in English, but also in writing and in the production of training material; knowing additional languages would be of advantage
·Able to quickly understand the clients' current situation and needs
·A self-starter and proactive stance, able to plan and prioritize one's own work
·Strong planning and organization skills; able to work with virtual teams

The person selected for this role is expected to start their engagement for three months in Karlsruhe, Germany in order to quickly learn about CONVERIS through training and by close interaction with colleagues. Once being certified as a CONVERIS implementation specialist the incumbent will be located at the offices in Singapore, strongly cooperating with project managers and sales organizations based in the region.
