Our Legal organisation focuses on connecting our customers' businesses to the ever-changing legal and regulatory environment. We provide critical online and print information, decision support tools, software and services to lawyers who practice in law firms, in corporate legal departments and in the public sector. We are a growing business in the UK, especially since the acquisition of Practical Law Company in March 2013 and we are very excited about the next stage in our growth and how you can play a part in it.

Position Title: Assistant Editor, Current Awareness WLUK and Lawtel
Position Type: 12 Month Fixed-term contract
Reports to: LJI/LRDI Team Manager

Role Purpose:

The role primarily involves selecting, abstracting and indexing current awareness materials Westlaw UK and Lawtel to tight deadlines and ensuring daily production schedules are maintained.

Responsibilities:

·  To select, abstract and index material for LRDI, Westlaw UK and Lawtel according to defined criteria and to required deadlines.
·  To assist in the monitoring of websites, maintaining details of organisations monitored and selection criteria used.
·  To create index entries for legal and financial materials in a range of subject areas, including accurate citation of cases, legislation and bibliographic details, correct application of house style and consistent use of the SMG Taxonomy.
·  To conduct post-publication checks on database records and online services.
·  To ensure publishing schedules are adhered to and content remains market focused.
·  To achieve the required level of self-management of priorities and workload.
·  To keep abreast of legal and regulatory developments.

Desired profile

Education/Qualifications:

·  Educated to degree level, preferably in Law
·  Previous editorial experience useful but not essential
·  Previous experience in a legal information environment desirable

Skills:

·  Good writing style, able to clearly and concisely interpret legal issues.
·  Ability to understand and summarise complex legal, regulatory and financial material.
·  Excellent grammar and spelling skills.
·  Able to demonstrate meticulous attention to detail.
·  Able to work under pressure of tight deadlines.
·  Able to work on own initiative in a team environment.

·  Strong communicator with excellent interpersonal skills.
·  Analytical, logical and questioning style.
