Role Summary:
The Area Controller is responsible for the delivery of high quality management reporting and controllership to part of the Enterprise Technology organisation within Thomson Reuters. The role is located within Accounting Operations based in London. The role requires strong relationship building with Business Finance, Corporate Functions, Internal and External audit, external customers and within the Accounting Operations community and is critical in ensuring that all costs, commitments and liabilities are accurately recorded on a timely basis. This role will provide support and control of the business units' Balance Sheets and ensure that the financial statements reflect international standards.
Major Responsibilities / Accountabilities:
· Responsible for the global management, control and reporting of the general ledger for ET&O
· Implementing a new reporting model for the ET&O finance organization
· Partnering with the FP&A team to identify and transition where work should best sit within the organization
· Monthly close activities including the close liaison with global service centres for the posting of journals, identification of accruals and prepayments and cost assurance activities to ensure that results are complete and accurate
· Regular meetings with FP&A to discuss sub-segment results and expectations.
· Analysis, review and commentary for material P&L variances based on monthly actuals versus plan/forecast.
· Controllership of Balance sheet accounts providing full commentary on movements and breakdown of balances for the area supported. This is presented to the Business Finance on a quarterly basis.
· Adhering to the SOX controls in place for the ET&O organization by providing regular analysis of balance sheet movements
· Working capital , People cost, T&E and vendor reporting as well as other ad hoc support to Business finance.

Technical /Professional Skills & Competencies:
Essential Skills:
· Highly motivated with ability to work independently or in a team environment and drive results; a self-starter and able to work with changing priorities and time pressures
· Strong written and oral communication skills; proven ability to relate to all levels of management and both finance and non-finance staff
· Detail oriented with excellent analytical, quantitative and investigative skills; ability to present complex data in a simplified and meaningful way
· Ability to apply knowledge and creativity to resolve standard and complex issues
Desired Skills:
· Experience with SAP, BEX and Trove - advantageous.
· Highly proficient with Excel to Intermediate level.
Education/ Certifications:
· Part-Qualified Accountant e.g ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent.
