Expires soon The Wye & Usk Foundation

Fundraising/Communications

Job description

The Wye & Usk Foundation (WUF) is a registered charity concerned with ecology and, more specifically, restoring the habitat, water quality and fisheries of the rivers Wye and Usk. We are one of the largest rivers trusts in the UK.

We offer short, unpaid internships to university students and recent graduates who are interested in the environment, fund raising and river restoration work. Based in the beautiful Welsh Border town of Talgarth, near to the River Wye and the famous literary town of Hay on Wye, the Wye & Usk Foundation is set in glorious unspoilt countryside.

This is an excellent opportunity to learn more about habitat restoration, fund raising for rivers and the wider rivers trust movement in the UK. It is not important that prospective interns know all about the environment in which we work, but it is extremely important that applicants are interested in and curious about the areas in which we work, fund raise and research.

Our internships are an excellent first step into the world of rivers and their stakeholders, and many former volunteers have gone on to work in these areas, or for the Foundation itself. They also provide very good experience for a range of non-environment-based charity careers.

Desired profile

Qualifications in environmental sciences, fishery management or marketing/PR would be especially useful.

Make every future a success.
