Responsive and Voids Surveyor

Location: St Michael\'s Court, Gloucester, GL1 1JB
Contract: 6, months fixed term, full time 35 hours
Salary: £24,381 per annum plus £4,000 market supplement
We are looking for a Responsive and Voids Surveyor to work with our contractors and deliver a proactive high-quality and cost-effective repairs service, with a clear and strong focus on customer service and customer satisfaction, as well as ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and best practice.
The role will be customer focused and consist of a high degree of property inspections; from regular day-to-day repairs on behalf of current residents, to preparing schedules of work required in void properties using the NHF Schedule of Rates. The work will involve consulting with residents and providing fault diagnosis to relevant contractors, then ensuring completion of the required repairs in a quick and efficient manner. Inspecting completed repairs and post inspecting void properties is also a key element of this role.
The successful candidate will be expected to provide excellent customer service to our residents, so effective communication skills are vital. As there will be a high level of travel, a driving license and access to a vehicle is also essential.
Skills and Experience
Essential:
- Clear and strong customer service focus
- Experience of using the NHF Schedule of Rates
- Ability to survey buildings, diagnose problems and specify remedies.
- Ability to prepare specifications and obtain competitive quotations for minor works
- Ability to communicate effectively with tenants, colleagues and suppliers
- Good knowledge of building construction and repair techniques
- Ability to accurately estimate the cost of minor building works.
- Knowledge of Health and Safety regulations
- Excellent oral and written communications
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office
Desirable:
- Understanding of social housing; funding, regulation, and tenancy agreements, and
- Experience of delivering services taking account of equality and diversity issues.
- Drawing up tenders and contract documentation for works
- Experience of computerised maintenance systems
- Working knowledge of standard forms of contracts.
- Relevant construction qualification
