  • Wymeswold (Leicestershire)

Job description

Do you have the creativity, tenacity and ambition to organise epic fundraising challenges which get talked about for years to come and raise money to educate some of the poorest children in India?

Imagine organising charity hitch hikes, events like Lost/Jailbreak and a whole host of other exciting ideas which people will get sponsored by their friends to participate in.

Your role will be to organise two fundraising challenges at your university in the 2016/17 academic year. We will support you with resources, tips, guidance and a community of amazing Fundraising Ambassadors from around the country. And the best bit is that the Fundraising Ambassadors who raise the most money will win a trip to India to visit the charity’s projects!

Tasks you can expect to be doing:

Idea Generation: coming up with new ideas or customising our ready-made ideas for fundraising challenges that you believe will succeed at your university

Leadership: Recruiting and working with a small team of friends to help you organise these challenges

Organisation & Logistics: doing the work behind the scenes to enable your challenges to run smoothly

Marketing: Promoting your challenges at your university using all of the resources at your disposal

The programme of support we will provide:

Initial Training Event in London: this will be your opportunity to meet the other ambassadors, ask questions and come up with ideas

You will be supported by the team at Akshaya Patra and Makerble to implement your ideas with monthly national phone calls, 1:1 support calls, resources and an online forum with all the other Fundraising Ambassadors where you can share notes and ideas

Invitation to the ‘Ambassadors' Reception’ event in London in June when you will get to present your two challenges to the staff at Akshaya Patra and staff from other charities

Opportunities to win internships at other charities

About The Cause

Akshaya Patra is the number one children’s charity in the world. In India millions of impoverished children are denied a free education because the children are too poor to afford food and lunch. As a result, millions of children drop out of school and are left to the cycle of poverty from which they came. Akshaya Patra fixes this by providing free school meals to over 5million poor Indian children a day which results in these children receiving an education, better life chances and better nutrition than they would otherwise receive. Akshaya Patra is their golden ticket to a better life and you can be part of that Golden Ticket too.
