We are currently looking for a System Test Engineer to join the Thales IFEC team in Irvine, California.
The System Test Engineer is responsible for the efficient and thorough execution of all System Verification & Validation activities on in-flight entertainment systems. The System Test Engineer supports the creation of the System Test plan and carries out the IVV activities defined within. She/he has deep knowledge of operating, configuring and troubleshooting in-flight entertainment systems and is an expert in all IVV methods and practices applied at Thales IFE. The System Test Engineer is familiar with the systems requirements as well as operational scenarios and creates high quality defect records for all irregularities he/she observes. Additionally he/she is responsible for the hardware configuration and over-all health of the system under test as well as maintaining a proper appearance of the lab environment.
Key Responsibilities:
· Integrates, tests and troubleshoots IFE systems (SW & HW)
· Responsible for the proper application of all planned testing methodologies & procedures
· Adapts generic test modules to the specific customer configuration
· Adapts generic automated test cases for the system under test
· Documents test results and all associated activities
· Identifies defects based on system specifications
· Creates defect records based on findings during the test activities. (Identification of defects, clear comprehensive description, initial assessment of severity)
· Organizes & conducts milestone meetings
· Verifies Lab installations / Racks against specifications (SW & HW).
· Ensures proper configuration management of the system under test (SUT) (SW & HW)
· Supports the IVV activity planning
· Is responsible for Rack/Lab cleanliness.
Skills and Experience:
· Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; 2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Knowledge of Unix /Linux/ Android systems
· Knowledge of Ethernet networks
· Knowledge of common defect management tools (ClearQuest / Jira)
· Mid-level skill in working with office suites (Microsoft Office / Open Office)
