Systems Engineer

Join us as a key member of the Systems Engineering Team based at the Thales site in Cheadle Heath near Manchester. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with Thales sites in the UK and overseas.

Purpose

The Systems Engineering team at Cheadle Heath carry out Systems Engineering activities covering the full lifecycle for Submarine, Surface Ships and Airborne Sonar and Command and Control systems. A vacancy has arisen for a Systems Engineer to work within the growing Submarine side of the business, on a new and exciting programme which concentrates on delivering a complete platform solution

Responsibilities

· System definition activities – requirements definition, functional and physical definitions
· Preparation and presentation of system level design reviews
· Monitoring of emerging detailed design within various implementation teams – acoustic, hardware, mechanical, software etc
· IVVQ planning and execution, including platform trials from time-to-time
· Requirements sell-off and contract acceptance with customer
· Customer and end-user liaison
· Analysis of system performance
· Alignment of Product vs Project
· Keep abreast of technical development both within and outside of the company.

Key Skills and Experience

Essential

· Demonstrable relevant systems engineering experience in relevant industry
· Strong analytical abilities with a methodical approach
· Knowledge of the complete system engineering lifecycle.
· Demonstrable relevant systems engineering experience in the relevant industry

Desirable

· DOORS practitioner
· System modelling skills (with either Rhapsody, Enterprise Architect or similar tool)
· Knowledge of maritime domain operations and/or products
· Knowledge of acoustic design and/or performance in underwater environment
· MatLab, or equivalent, experience.
· Understanding of signal processing and network design.

Qualifications and Certification:

Essential

· Bachelor's Degree level, or equivalent, in engineering or relevant scientific discipline.
· Good ‘A' levels, or equivalent, in Maths and Physics
