WE ARE CURRENTLY LOOKING FOR A SATCOM RF PLANNER TO JOIN THE THALES TEAM IN ABU DHABI, UNITED ARAB EMIRATES.

The Satcom Planner will be responsible in the management of the RF Resources of the Satellite assets.

Key Responsibilities:

Service Planning : The SATCOM RF Planner will form the core expertise for planning services provided by the operations team for the Military Customer. It is this role that will provide the specialist engineering knowledge and skills necessary to ensure the successful and efficient delivery of services in accordance with the Service Catalogue. Planning will the complete planning lifecycle:

o Attend planning meetings

o Draft and review Deployment Communications Requests (DCRs)

o Order handling

o Satellite resources planning

o Network and service planning

o Link budget calculation and tuning

o Generate network plan reports

o Crypto requests

o Configuration generation

o Configuration dissemination

o Activation

Configuration Documentation : Manage the production of documents to provide information on modem usage and SGT configuration for all activated plans.

Liaison : The SATCOM RF Planner will be able to work both alone and as part of a small team. He will be responsible for liaising with internal and external organisations to ensure that services are planned and assets are available.

Reports : Where required collate and produce any reports regarding to operational and planning activities as required by the Operations Manager or Head of Operations and Engineering. These reports are to include detailed timings for all events.

Out of Hours Support : There may be occasions when out of hours support is required.

Document Management : The SATCOM RF Planner is responsible for managing, reviewing and updating all relevant procedures associated with order handling and planning within the MNOC.

Skills/Experience/Educational Requirements:

- Higher qualification in System or Telecommunications Engineering, or an associated degree;

- The SATCOM RF Planner primarily needs to be an experienced SATCOM engineer with the ability to gain an in-depth understanding of the complete YahSat MiSatCom system;

- Experience in SATCOM Link Budgets and practical experience of Satellite Network planning

- Experience in planning and implementing communications solutions;

- Good verbal and written communication skills;

- Good interpersonal skills.

- Working proficiency in English

- Experience working with a satellite communications system;

- Experience in planning satellite services;

- Ability to provide planned and ad-hoc status reporting;

- Ability to ensure appropriate and up-to-date documentation is in place and maintained.

Security clearance: Due to the military nature of the activity, the SATCOM RF Planner will be required to apply for a military clearance with the UAE Armed Forces. Thales will manage the security clearance process. The employment of the selected candidate for the position of SATCOM RF Planner will be effective subjected to and after reception of his Security Clearance.
