Thales Alenia Space requires a Mechnical & Thermal Archictect to lead Thales Alenia Space's structural, thermal analysis and verification acitivities.The successful individual will be be a contributor for the development of proposals for Satellite phases B/C/D.

In the frame of Thales Alenia Space (TAS) deployment in UK:

·  In the frame of the development of payload modules for new space missions, the Mechanical/Thermal Architect will lead the mechanical and thermal as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
·  The Mechanical/Thermal Architect will lead the structural & thermal analysis and verification activities.
·  You will be in charge of the Payload Mechanical/Thermal architecture trade-offs covering all engineering aspects including structure and thermal in conjunction with dedicated engineering specialists.
·  Phase C/D activities will include qualification test planning, predictions, set up, execution and results assessment.

Relationships will be required to be built and maintained with the following principals:

·  Payload Systems Engineer
·  TAS UK Project Manager and design team
·  External partners: ESA, UKSA, TAS-F, TAS-I
·  Other industrial team members
·  Payload providers

Key Responsibilities:

·  Lead mechanical/thermal design activities for payload module in cooperation with other TAS entities.
·  Lead the mechanical/thermal design, establish the test plan/qualification sequence for the mechanical aspects.
·  Define the interfaces, in direct relation with the Payload System Engineer and other subsystems (Avionics, Thermal System)
·  Identify the key drivers for the product competitiveness related to mechanical/thermal aspects.
·  Generate and maintain Alignment / Alignment Stability Budgets
·  Provide inputs to MGSE general requirements and interface definition
·  Critically review inputs from Payload teams for inclusion in overall mathematical models
·  Develop TAS UK skill in Mechanical/Structural area.

Experience and Skills

·  Mechanical Systems engineering
·  Mechanical design with associated standard 3D CAD design software such as Solid Works, CATIA or PTC Creo.
·  Experience with producing relevant documents and presenting at reviews.
·  Supervision of structural analysis using Nastran Patran or another FEA code.
·  Supervision of thermal analysis using ESATAN/ESARAD or other equivalent code
·  Experience with planning, executing and evaluating environmental tests, including thermal-vacuum and vibration
·  Experience with validation of high-stability opto-mechanical structures would be of benefit
·  Experience of working in a multi-discipline team environment
·  Experience of working closely with Customer, partners, suppliers
·  Experience in technical proposal preparation would be an asset
·  Experience within Space domain would be advatageous
