As a LabView Test Design Engineer based in Crawley you'll be working in the Engineering Services Team. Working across multiple business areas including radio communication products and defence programmes; although primarily focused on Avionic Test Systems, both legacy support, and design and developing new solutions. This is an excellent opportunity to join a stable team, in a position that offers variety across software, hardware, firmware and work package management.

Key responsibilities

· Capture test requirements with design engineers to create reliable test solutions, ensuring the product is delivered on time and to budget
· Develop test solutions, potentially including hardware, firmware, software and test scripts either solely or as part of a larger team
· Originate, specify and prove designs to meet project operational requirements
· Develop test documentation including test specifications for production test and systems test
· Support a pro-active, 'can-do' attitude within the team and encourage innovative thinking
· Ensuring that project safety and airworthiness requirements are addressed in a manner consistent with company processes.
· Supporting forward planning activities for project activities and to support the generation of relevant development plans.
· Assisting in the generation of project cost and schedule information and support the review of that data.

Skills, qualifications and experience


Essential

· Degree qualified (or equivalent), preferably electronic or software engineering biased and with a test design background
· Experience of National Instruments LabView and desirable to have knowledge of National Instruments Lab Windows CVI and/or Test-Stand
· Design of Special to Type ATE Hardware and Test Interfaces or similar;
· Fault finding / diagnosis of hardware and/or software Desirable

· Knowledge of avionics applications and standard (1553B, ARINC-429 etc) would also be desirable
· Awareness of the software development life cycle including change control, software test and formal release
· Knowledge of instrumentation interface standards, such as PCI, PXI or VXI is desirable
Additional

· Familiarity of software and hardware Interfaces for PCB or Sub Assembly testing using General Purpose ATE and JTAG
· Agile and LEAN engineering experience would be advantageous.
