Thales Australia is part of a leading international electronics and systems group serving the defence, aerospace and space, security, and transport markets in Australia and throughout the world. Our expertise ranges across protected mobility vehicles and integrated communications solutions for defence through to security solutions and systems integration for the commercial sector.

Avionics (AVS) is a business unit of Thales Australia that provides training and simulation solutions to defence for air, land and sea platforms, and avionics systems for the MRH-90 and ARH Helicopters to the Australian defence force.

The Business Development Manager for Maritime, Joint & Training is a key member of the Sales and Marketing team within AVS, and will be responsible for driving business expansion across the Maritime domain and will work closely with the Sales and Marketing Manager and the VP for the AVS business unit.

Key Responsibilities for this role Include:

· Maintain a strong customer relationship throughout the business development, business capture and delivery phases of land projects
· Identify and develop capture plans for opportunities in the Land business
· Provide advice on the strategy, organisation and skill sets that will need to be developed to generate business in the Land market
· Undertake competitor analysis to identify relevant discriminators to understand Thales Australia's competitive position
· Analyse opportunities and prepare documents (in accordance with Thales policy) to support the Bid/No Bid process
· Analyse and develop teaming and partnering strategies that improve Thales Australia's competitive position to secure opportunities
· Manage the business development process for nominated opportunities through to and including the Bid/No Bid Phase

Qualifications, skills and experience required includes:

· Appropriate tertiary qualifications in military or strategic studies, weapons electronics engineering, business, commercial or Project Management disciplines would be an advantage
· Experience in Maritime and Joint Defence training excercises
· Exceptional customer relationship building skills along with excellent communication skills
· Defence industry experience is critical to the success of this role
· Previous experience working at training course design level will be an advantage
· Intimate knowledge of defence requirements within the Maritime & Joint domain
