Position Description

Assist in facilitating implementation of Statistical Process Control in the manufacturing line on variety of mechanical and chemical processes, tasks including developing training materials on quality improvement tools and training the SPC Teams on different statistical tools. Perform supporting activities for engineering and manufacturing including 5S and Lean manufacturing activities. Act as a resource for SPC. Manage workload with a positive attitude as a team player in a collaborative work environment.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

·  Support Lean Manufacturing and 5S initiatives.
·  Assist in the training of SPC /MIT Teams as needed.
·  Assist in developing training materials related to statistical techniques and continuous improvement methodologies.
·  Assist in developing SPC presentation templates
·  Attends regularly in SPC Team meetings and assess team’s progress and help needed.
·  Develop quality improvement tools. These include tools for retrieving/querying, analyzing and presenting data.
·  Act as a resource for the SPC and quality improvement teams. Answer questions; communicate information between teams and to/from the steering committees, etc.
·  Capture and standardize Best Known Method (BKM) procedures. BKM’s are innovations developed by individuals, teams, outside people, etc. These are typically captured as written specifications (instructional documents) and templates (how-to document, spreadsheet, presentation, etc.).
·  Capture employee improvement ideas. This consists of developing a form and process for employees to generate and implement improvement ideas.
·  Implement improvement strategies (these are typically defined by the steering committees).
·  Provide sustaining support for the required business processes at the site. One of the primary areas of support is to review/approve updates to SPC documentation and SPC charts.
·  Generate periodic reports on SPC performance metrics.
·  Assist in developing or setting up control charts
·  Audit control charts set up.
·  Manage workload with positive attitude and proactively help co-workers

Qualifications/Skills

·  BS/MS Degree in Engineering (w/ background in Statistics)
·  Ability to manage workload while contributing to a positive, team oriented work environment
·  Familiarity with any data analysis methodology or 7QC Tools (Control chart, Run chart, Pareto chart, Flow chart, Cause and effect diagram, Histogram, Scatter diagram)
·  Knowledge and experience in process development, Statistical Process Control (SPC), Design of Experiments (DOE), & FMEA fundamentals are required.
·  Detail oriented with strong record-keeping and organizational skills.
·  Skilled with common workplace software (MS Word, Excel, Visio, Access, JUMP, etc).
·  Team player. Active listening, communicate ideas and requests clearly, display respect for others.
·  Written communication skills. Needed for memos, emails, training materials, etc.
·  Leadership skills. The ability to inspire and motivate others to work to achieve a common goal.
·  Project/Time management. Prioritize tasks and manage schedules and people in order to complete the project.
