We seek a highly motivated engineer for a position in the Power Electronics Test Engineering group, a team focused on creating robust, beautiful, data-centric automated machines. Focused on test equipment for manufacturing drive units, power electronics, and body assemblies. This team concentrates specifically on mechanical, controls, and robotics elements of capital equipment for our production lines around the world. Roles and Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will work to develop both low and high power electronic test equipment along with mentoring from several manufacturing test, and design engineering peers. The candidate will complete detailed design of test software in LabVIEW, or Python and TestStand.

The candidate will also work with cross-functional teams throughout the entire lifecycle of the product and processes. He/She will work closely with Design Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, and Production to ensure that test equipment supports all critical objectives for Tesla.

Test Equipment Development:

·  Create, document, and debug LabVIEW/Python and TestStand with an emphasis on generating code that is organized, structured, documented, maintainable and reusable.
·  Generate aesthetically simple user interfaces and troubleshooting tools
·  Management of suppliers during specification, design, and build of manufacturing equipment
·  Optimize automated processes to minimize cycle time and maximize uptime
·  Characterize and validate equipment using data-driven statistical approaches (Gage Repeatability and Reproducibility test, Cpk, etc)
·  Develop test plans according to test procedures and specifications
·  Provide on-site support for test equipment deployment (international travel required up to 25%)
·  Create troubleshooting and maintenance documents for testers

Expected Experience:

Skillsets:

·  Proficiency with National Instruments TestStand and LabVIEW
·  Experience automating and troubleshooting rack instruments (DMMs, oscilloscopes, power supplies)
·  Exemplary verbal and written communication skills
·  Ability to work under pressure while managing competing demands and tight deadlines
·  Experience commissioning test equipment, and root causing tester vs unit under test (UUT) errors
·  Experience working with and debugging common communication protocols (CAN, LIN, I2C, Ethernet, GPIB, etc.)
·  Has regular source code control practices
·  Highly organized with meticulous attention to detail
·  Experience with multiple software development tools and environments (MySQL, Python, etc.)
·  Experience with a variety of test types including EOL (end-of-line), functional, and burn-in is a plus
·  Knowledge of standard production quality metrics is a plus

Qualifications:

·  BS/MS Engineering Degree
·  3+ years of combined career experience as a hands-on test/mechanical/manufacturing/design engineer working on electrical systems
