Position Description
The Remanufacture Engineering Technician reports to the Engineering Manager. He or She is responsible for determining the root failures of complex electromechanical assemblies, and repairing or remanufacturing those products to specification. This position will involve gaining an understanding of various components and their interaction within the vehicle. The Remanufacturing Engineering Technician analyzes components, equipment, test results, assembly methods, drawing prints, and electrical schematics to determine the true cause of a problem. Once a countermeasure is identified, they also work with the production staff to prevent further recurrences. Remanufacturing Engineering Technicians will also use hand tools, computer-based test equipment, and internal databases to analyze and repair product and subassemblies in an efficient manner. An equally important responsibility is to help reman production line with continuous improvements in, quality, safety, and efficiency as well as authoring, troubleshooting, and enhancing assembly instructions.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities

Perform complex and precise electrical and mechanical debug, repair, and remanufacturing
·
Maintain repair history through diligent record keeping and adherence to process
·
Communicate findings effectively to Design, Manufacturing, Quality, Safety, and other departments
·
Possess a thorough understanding of individual components and entire systems
·
Engage engineering resources from other teams to both learn and offer insights
·
Query databases to mine potentially useful information, plus be able to efficiently refine raw data sets to tell a meaningful story
·
Work from both detailed and ambiguous manufacturing documentation, as well as written and verbal instructions
·
Work with, and help develop specialized fixtures, test equipment, and procedures for failure analysis
·
Collect data; update and maintain organized electronic and written records concisely and accurately
·
Identify discrepant materials/components, both verbally and in writing to supervisor and engineers
·
Complete tasks within standard times, as directed by your supervisor and per established schedules
·
Maintain a clean and orderly work area following best 5S practices
·
Suggest enhancements to process and help implement once approved
·
Ability to identify and analyze new failures modes from both the field and manufacturing lines
·
Create failure analysis training material and participate in training of production technicians
·
Ensure proper use and understanding of failure analysis tools and methodologies
·
Support remanufacturing line through continuous improvement and efficiency initiatives
·
Work safely with manual/power tools and high voltage equipment
·
Possess the desire and ability to learn, as well as demonstrate personal responsibility
Qualifications/Skills
·
High School diploma or equivalent, Associate engineering degree preferred.
·
Minimum 3 years of experience in assembly and repair of electro-mechanical components or electric motors.
·
Minimum 1 year in an analytical/ problems solving role related to manufacturing
·
Previous knowledge analyzing large datasets and graphical representation of data is necessary.
·
Knowledge of python or SQL is preferred
·
Working knowledge of high voltage battery, AC motors, transmissions, basic electronics and DC electrical systems
·
Experience assembling, dissembling, and testing mechanical systems preferably automotive powertrains.
·
Experience interpreting vehicle logs and performing vehicle diagnostics is a strong plus.
·
Ability to read and understand manufacturing instructions, electrical diagrams, and mechanical drawings
·
Capable of working independently and in teams
·
Have an aptitude to learn and incorporate new technologies
·
Experience with semi-automated manufacturing equipment is highly desirable
·
Excellent communication and collaboration skills across multi-disciplinary teams.
·
Good command of the English language, both written and verbal
·
Must be reliable, innovative, committed, a self-starter, and quality focused, capable of working unsupervised and in teams
·
Can track multiple assignments and tasks simultaneously
·
Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, occasionally requiring extended hours/ weekend work.
·
Proficient with computer tools, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and work management programs
·
Proficient with hand tools and computer-based tools, including precision measuring equipment, electrical test equipment, and computer databases
·
Forklift driving experience a plus
·
Ability to perform repetitious duties while standing for long periods
·
Ability to lift 30-50 lbs.
·
Able to work flexible hours (weekends and split shifts).
