ROLE:

Design and maintain Seat frame welding processes to ensure safety, Cost, Welding Quality and delivery.

Responsibilities:

·  Provide feedback on design for manufacturing on welded seat frame structure design concepts (DFM)
·  Establish and develop the concept process, including estimated standard time and costs
·  Responsible for process documentation; ensuring it is kept current like PFMEA, standard works and Control Plan for the welding operation
·  Introduce product design, process, & tooling changes into existing weld fixtures
·  Problem solve (leveraging data) and make improvements to welding fixtures with regards to dimensional accuracy and process capability, emphasis should be placed on error proofing critical jobs, and using SPC when pertinent.
·  Plan and conduct the analysis, inspection, design, test, and/or integration of production blanking, laser welding processes to ensure product quality
·  Review NDT results from weld samples, Develop and implement in-process inspection technologies
·  Analysis of downtime data to identify processes causing downtime, or trends in overall performance.
·  Manage communication between other engineering groups when support is needed: Product Excellence, Seat Engineering, Dimensional Engineering etc.
·  Active participation in NPI manufacturing trials to capture process changes needed to introduce product.
·  Review of all incidents/near misses documented in TOP that occur in area; perform analysis and design effective countermeasures.
·  Active participation in periodic audits with the Ergonomist from EH&S to proactively identify risks.

Desired Skills and Experience:

·  BS/MS Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) –Welding Engineeringpreferred
·  Be experienced in welding seat structure, GD&T and design of weld fixtures and gauging– Remote laser welding experience is preferred
·  Knowledge of robotics welding and pick and place
