We seek a passionate finance professional to become an integral member of Tesla’s portfolio management team in our San Mateo office. This role is focused on Tesla’s solar tax equity and cash equity vehicles and will require regular collaboration with our fund accounting, tax, and capital markets teams. As an ideal candidate, you will possess facility with financial modeling, creativity and discretion in solving cross-functional problems, and experience in a fast paced public company.
The Portfolio Management Analyst will play a central role in representing Tesla to solar tax equity and cash equity investors. Key responsibilities include fund performance reporting, forecasting, and the day-to-day operation of distributed, solar asset portfolios.
The position requires a high level of business acumen, initiative, responsiveness, and accuracy. The ideal candidate will have 2-6 years of demonstrated success in any combination of accounting, consulting, treasury operations, or investment. A top candidate will have the ability to think analytically and strategically about cross-functional business problems. To be successful, you must be comfortable with ambiguous working environments, while continuously driving change.
Responsibilities
· Investment Reporting and Management
· Manage recurring performance reporting for assigned funds
· Respond to investor inquiries in a timely manner
· Support raising of new capital through the creation of new datasets
· Identify and address fund-specific risks in compliance with fund agreements
· Financial Modeling and Forecasting
· Comprehend and manipulate transaction-specific models to accurately size and forecast investment activity
· Implement best practices and automation with a company-wide mindset
Desired profile
Requirements
· BA/BS degree from a top university in accounting, finance, or economics and/or equivalent in experience
· Evidence of exceptional ability
· 2-6 years of experience with strong knowledge of investment management and/or treasury operations.
· Excellent modeling skills (e.g. Microsoft Excel); ability to build detailed financial models. Solar tax equity modeling experience preferred
· Superior business problem solving, judgement, and prioritization
· Strong written and verbal communication skills
· Ability to cultivate cross-functional relationships and communicate effectively with management and business partners
· Smart, driven, able to work both independently and in a team, detail-oriented and execution focused
· A roll-up-the-sleeves mentality and willingness to “pitch in” and do whatever is necessary to successfully grow and further stream line the business
· SQL (or other relational database language) and VBA ability strongly desired
