Tesla is growing quickly and is currently seeking a Payroll Tax Accountant. You should have a keen eye towards detail, be a collaborative solutions seeker and have an effective customer service approach. You will actively communicate with the Company’s Accounting, Payroll team and HR department to coordinate the information flow of benefits and other employee-tax related matters. The role reports to the Payroll Tax Manager.
Responsibilities:
· Partner with the Payroll operation team to ensure all appropriate payroll taxes are correctly set up in employee master file ( local taxes, state tax reciprocities rules…) for both US and Canada
· Balancing of Quarter Tax filing with the payroll provider
· Prepare amended tax returns for both US and Canada as needed
· Prepare amended Annual returns such as T4 and W-2c as needed
· Support year-end tax related items such as W-2 balancing with annual payroll register
· Responsible for preparing various employer business tax return included but not limited to Nevada Business Tax returns, state workers compensation returns (Ohio, WSIB…)
· Partner with stock administration to ensure all stock and ESPP transactions are being taxed accurately
· Manage agencies tax tracer along with supporting external audits requirements
· Reconcile each payroll register with Tax filing reports to assure accurate payment and timely tax filing are performed
· Work closely with the payroll Accountant with accounts reconciliation impacted by tax transactions
· Research taxation rule of new pay codes and deduction codes set up in the payroll system
· Prepare registration for Tesla with the various government agencies upon new locations as needed, in compliance with the work/resident taxation rules
· Ensure compliance of all SOX controls relating to payroll Tax function
· Perform regular audit within the payroll system to assure correct taxation set up meeting compliances changes
· Keep up with latest Taxations requirements for both US and Canada
· Work closely with the Global mobility department for taxation impact on payroll
· Assist in other projects as needed
Requirements:
· Tax Bachelor’s degree preferred
· Evidence of Exceptional Ability
· 3+ years of multi-state payroll processing experience with large employers within multiple FEIN.s including Canada
· Must have passion to reconciling variances between different source of data
· Experience with Payroll tax filing a MUST
· Solid understanding and working knowledge of payroll taxation for US and Canada
· MS Office (Excel) and computer skills proficiency required
· Highly detail oriented
· Excellent writing skills, strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills
· High degree of professionalism and solid ability in delivering high quality customer service and establishing/maintaining effective and collaborative working relationships
· Strong organization and planning skills with the ability to manage and deliver multiple priorities in a fast-paced culture
· Flexible with schedule to meet month, quarter, and year end
· Excellent judgment, analytical and problem-solving, the ability to work independently and as a team player, and the ability to function in a highly confidential environment
