Role

Tesla is currently seeking a Network Engineer to join our team in Fremont, CA.This position's primary responsibility will be to maintain and support manufacturing networks at Tesla factory locations.

Responsibilities

·  Assist the network infrastructure team in buildout of new or expanded areas within manufacturing areas. Order and install switches, firewalls, or routers as appropriate. Using existing designs and policies, configure and test equipment before putting into production.
·  Work with manufacturing, engineering, or other internal business customers to identify and recommend network options to connect and provide appropriate network service to manufacturing equipment and staff.
·  As needed, assist with establishing network access to on-site vendors or manufacturing partners. Work closely with Tesla's infosec team to ensure correct security policies and procedures are followed in the design and execution of service.
·  Engage local facilities teams and contractors as needed to support IT build or design needs. For example requesting conduit or cabling installation within or between IDF's, buildings or zones; coordinating installation of network cabinets or power; provide guidance when IDF's, cabling, or conduit needs to be removed or replaced during construction or renovation activity.
·  Assist in maintaining documentation of Tesla’s ever growing network
·  Respond to day-to-day network changes or troubleshooting requests of network hardware, and wired or wireless services
·  Be highly flexible and responsive.

Desired profile

Requirements

·  Degree in IS/IT program or relevant IS/IT experience
·  3+ years experience in Network Engineering
·  Experience with JUNOS, Juniper switches and firewalls,
·  Experience with Cisco or Aruba Controller-based wireless systems.
·  Experience with device monitoring and management tools
·  One or more of the following certifications is preferred: JNCIA, JNCIP, CCNA, CCNP
·  25% travel required as necessary
