Inline Quality Technician

Inline Quality Technician must have the ability to work with various teams in assembly including engineering, quality, and suppliers across a wide variety of issues/ corrective actions identified in production, testing and inspection.  Inline Quality Technician work in a manufacturing environment detecting defects and repairing vehicles in fast paced environment at the rate of General Assembly.  They will serve as the main point of contact for their respective areas and support coordination of activities with the Inline Quality Technicians.

Responsibilities

·  Walk back defects immediately to GA
·  Ensure no cars leave respective area with open NCs
·  Build solid relationships in respective zone/pitches
·  Joint effort to inspect and repair vehicles on line when defects arise
·  First line of defense on new issues from GA that arise
·  Flexible to dynamic changes in work content based on business needs
·  Serve as the on-shift subject matter expert (SME) for respective quality area.
·  Support Quality Engineering with progressing quality investigations and robust problem solving and containment activities.

Skills

·  Ability to detect defects and repair in fast paced environment and rate of General Assembly.
·  Ability to understand and determine basic root cause for defects to prevent reoccurrence for GA controllable issues.
·  Ability to determine countermeasure advice / suggestions and walk back to station occurrence to support GA retrain or conduct stand downs.
·  Ability to feedback defects and defect trends to Inline Quality leadership teams.
·  Ability to establish first line of defense immediately containment activities (ie operator retrain, defect part segregation, etc).
·  Ability to utilize Inline Quality reporting dashboards to quickly observe defects and contain within respective area of responsibility.
·  Ability to build solid relationships in respective zone/pitch with GA associates and respective cross functional teams.
·  Ability to have strong personable skills in communication, influence and basic email conversation.
·  Ability to utilize Mattermost (online communication channel) to document and communicate defects to peers within GA to ensure defects are contained before exiting.

 

Requirements

·  2+ years’ experience in automotive diagnosis, servicing, and repair techniques of automobiles (may be substituted for experience in General Assembly at Tesla).
·  Perform detailed daily record keeping and reporting.
·  Handle multiple priorities, organize workload, and meet deadlines.
·  Work in a team-based environment and achieve common goals.
·  High School Diploma or equivalent.
·  Associate Degree or Certificate in Automotive Technology or the equivalent in experience and evidence of exceptional ability.
