JOB TITLE
EMC Test Engineer
THE ROLE
Tesla is seeking an EMC Test Engineer to work on sophisticated automotive electronic products for mass production. The EMC test engineer will support product design, debugging, and testing for Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) for current and next generation Tesla products.
RESPONSIBILITIES
· Perform EMC testing for Tesla modules and vehicles.
· Generate EMC test plans and test reports.
· Coordinate EMC testing with 3 rd party laboratories and lead product readiness for EMC testing.
· Review, analyze, and interpret EMC test results; communicate accordingly to design engineering teams.
· Work on preparing vehicle and electronics modules for EMC testing by using vehicle jack, shop tools to remove vehicle trim or parts, and installing instrumentation and communication equipment.
· Collaborate with design teams in all phases of electronic product development for EMC, including prototype, verification and validation, and troubleshooting.
· Collaborate with regulatory compliance team for vehicle homologation testing and validation.
· Perform product change assessment for EMC and identify applicable EMC tests to satisfy EMC specification and homologation/regulatory requirements.
· Develop and validate EMC test setups for emissions and immunity per test methods such as CISPR25, ISO-11452-2, -4, ISO-7637-2, -3, ISO-10605, IEC 61000-4-2, -3, -4, -6.
REQUIREMENTS
· Bachelors in Engineering with 1 years of experience of EMC testing.
· Experience on performing EMC testing. Desirable EMC testing for automotive.
· Experience with EMC test automation software.
· Working knowledge on instruments required for EMC testing such as spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, oscilloscopes, signal generators, antennas, coupling clamps, field probes, ESD simulators, etc.
· Experience on generating detailed EMC test plans and EMC test reports.
· Basic understanding of Electromagnetic theory applied to EMC testing.
· Working knowledge of analog and digital electronics.
· Hands-on experience in debugging radiated and conducted emissions and immunity issues.
· Hands-on experience on design modifications, including soldering components, assembly of wiring harnesses and fixtures.
· Familiar with communication protocols like CAN, LIN, Ethernet, USB for product instrumentation and communication monitoring for EMC testing.
· Understanding of ISO-17025 laboratory accreditation process and maintenance is a plus.
· Familiar with EMC32, BAT-EMC, TEAL, or TOYO EMC is a plus.
· Self-starter, energizing, results oriented, and ability to multi-task.
· Excellent teamwork, coordination and communication skills, both written and oral.
· Ability to meet aggressive delivery targets.
· Must be self-managed and committed to working in a fast-paced environment.
