The Role

Tesla is looking for a Commercial Junior Field Service Technician (FST) who will report to the Regional Field Service Manager and provide assistance to local Commercial FST’s with component replacements (inverters, modules, conduit, combiner boxes), diagnosing problems, and general PV maintenance activities on commercial projects. The individual will be an extra set of hands for those jobs that require more than one person to safely and efficiently complete tasks, such as rebuilding arrays or removing PV modules. The Commercial Jr. FST will be expected to learn from the FST and eventually grow into that role. The individual will help to complete testing reports and work sheets as the Sr. or Commercial FST tests the equipment and relaying results to the Commercial Jr. FST.

Responsibilities

·  Take direction from the FST and assist with PV troubleshooting tasks
·  Inspect wires, combiner boxes, modules, and inverters for possible defects as directed by the FST
·  Help with the removal and or installation of modules, conduit, and inverters
·  Assist FST with the set-up of ladders, safety equipment, roof anchors
·  Work safely and in accordance with Tesla and industry standard safety requirements
·  Work closely with members of the Operations Engineering Systems Reliability team to respond to open case directions and provide data where requested
·  Ensure the vehicle, tooling, electronics, software, and company property issued are accounted for and taken care of
·  Learn diagnostic PV troubleshooting techniques from the FST
·  Drive other projects as required or as business needs change

Qualifications

·  Minimum of 3 months of PV installation experience
·  Greater trades experience in roofing or electrical a plus
·  Experience operating heavy machinery; boom lifts, man lifts, scissor lifts
·  Must be able to work at heights, climb ladders and stairs, lift 60 pounds, and able to work on your feet for long periods of time
·  Bending, stooping, crawling, in confined spaces, working in limited illumination areas, working in dusty conditions are required
·  Must be able to work alone for periods of time and manage your own schedule
·  Comfortable making decisions independently and handling emergency situations with a calm and directed manner
·  Ability to work in extreme environments, e.g. hot sun, below freezing, crawl spaces, etc.
·  Proficiency with Microsoft Suite, specifically with Excel
·  Must be very organized and be able to meet aggressive timelines
·  Detail-oriented, resourceful and able to manage shifting priorities
·  Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
·  Ability to positively and effectively interact with internal and external customers
·  Regular, reliable and predictable performance required
·  Ability to work well with others in a collaborative team environment
