Description of the Business Operations Analyst role
Tesla Motors is looking to hire a Business Operations Analyst to support one of the company’s operational functions.
Responsibilities
Duties will be assigned and prioritized based on the company’s evolving needs and will be, but are not limited to:
· Putting together business cases and financial plans to drive decision making for new vehicle programs and other products
· Working with engineering to evaluate design vs cost tradeoffs
· Project managing the cost reduction and gross margin improvement process for Tesla’s existing product portfolio
· Working with purchasing and engineering to select suppliers for new vehicle programs
· Developing cost models for parts based on cost benchmarking of suppliers through cost breakdowns
· Working with the Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team to create accurate financial plans and evaluate business performance against those plans
· Interacting with company executives with poise and professionalism
Required Qualifications
· Bachelor's Degree from a top 25 university, with outstanding academic performance
· 1-3 years in consulting, investment banking, or other high-impact role (e.g., startup)
· Ability to work independently, detail-oriented, and execution focused
· Strong written and verbal communication skills
· Excellent financial modeling skills (or ability to learn Excel quickly)
· Technical background not required, but preferred
