The Role
Test Systems Engineering is working to bring automation and efficiency to R&D and product testing while helping manufacturing achieve their goal of making ‘The Machine to Build the Machine’.
This is a high paced, dynamic role. It requires a broad knowledge of mechanical design principles. Candidates must display strong independence, self-sufficiency, and learning skills.
Responsibilities:
· Mechanical design of the following:
· Dynamometers and rotating test equipment
· Test rigs and fixtures
· Packaging for HV and LV electronic and data acquisition systems.
· Oiling and cooling systems
· Building and testing prototypes. Working with build and operations teams for full implementation of new designs.
· Collaborative work with test engineers, product design engineers, and cross functional teams.
Minimum Requirements:
· 2+ years of direct experience in a mechanical design engineering role.
· 3D CAD experience. Catia preferred. Particularly:
· Working in and manipulating large, embedded assemblies.
· Detailed part design. Machined parts, weldments, sheet metal.
· Detailed part and assembly drawing creation.
· Strong GD&T skills.
· BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent, Masters preferred.
Desired Skills/Experience
· Experience with rotating systems, mechanisms, pneumatic and hydraulic actuation.
· Hands-on machine building skills. Previous mechanic, machining and/or fabrication experience a big plus.
· Knowledge and working experience with a wide variety of manufacturing process: Machining, welding, sheet metal forming, casting, plastic injection molding, additive manufacturing.
· Strong knowledge of material properties.
· Ability to understand, test, and troubleshoot complicated system interactions.
· Experience with electromechanical systems, with a solid understanding of control basics.
· Understanding of high voltage and electrical principles.
· Understanding of LEAN and Six Sigma principles. DFSS and LSS Green Belts highly considered!
