The Role
The ADA Accommodations Specialist will be responsible for coordinating and supporting the process for providing accommodations for Tesla employees with disabilities. This individual will ensure that reasonable accommodations and services are in place and coordinate compliance with regards to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and California employment and privacy laws surrounding employees with disabilities. The successful candidate will support the development and implementation of a stay at work program for work-related or personal injuries and illnesses as well as programs to support employees returning to work after a work-related or personal injury. This role will also work closely identifying new projects to build effective plans to mitigate risk by analyzing data trends.
Responsibilities
· Perform case management and coordinate the accommodation process for end-to-end case management, including working with HR, the associate, vendors, work location, and other stakeholders
· Provide support and guidance while performing activities related to short term and long term accommodations for employees at work or returning to work for medical-based accommodations
· Develop transitional work assignment or long term accommodation within position based on restrictions as well as available tasks
· Communicate the transition work assignment plan or accommodation to the associate and obtain their agreement
· Coordinate the return to work, accommodations, and transitional work assignment program monitoring
· Act as liaison between our third party administrators, HR, EH&S, Legal, Payroll, Benefits, employees and other departments/systems as appropriate
· Educate employees and HR on complicated aspects of return to work, accommodations, and complex case processes
· Provide guidance, assess risk, resolve issues, and escalate as appropriate for employees, managers and HR
· Escalate complex issues including inability to accommodate, complex cases, and transitional work programs for guidance
· Maintain system records to ensure accurate and timely information/documentation
Requirements
· Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Human Resources Management, or closely related field; Certified Professional in Disability Management (CPDM) highly preferred
· Minimum 3 years of experience in a HR role within the disability management
· Knowledge of federal and state disability laws, specifically ADA, FEHA and FMLA
· Knowledge of the interplay between the FMLA, workers’ compensation, and the ADA
· Knowledge and understanding of disability management, return-to-work strategies, ADAAA and related state and local statutes
· Experience with manufacturing and/or production workforce and high volume, complex case management
· Ability to analyze, problem solve, organize and manage multiple priorities, and effectively follow up in a fast-paced environment
· Ability to build strong working relationships across all levels of the organization, including remote areas and in manufacturing environments

· Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
· Advanced skills in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint); familiarity with other data management systems is a plus
· Excellent written and verbal communication abilities, including effective presentation skills to all levels of the organization
